Exercise?

We have a almost 11wk old male Candy Cane. We take him out 5 days a wk for about 20mins to roam on our hands...I was wandering is that enough exercise? Its 3 of us & we will pass him around so that everyone gets to spend time w/ him.

I also wanted to know what you guys do to exercise your snakes? Any other ways than just holding em'?

TIA,

Handling is great exercise, and it sounds like your snake gets plenty of it.

I have too many snakes to handle each one for 100 minutes per week and most of them are well toned, so I think what you are doing is sufficient. :)

If their cage is big enough I think they have some exercise as they are moving(mostly at night) when they are exploring their habitat.
If they are not power fed to have fat in their body I don't think they need much of exercise,at least not 5 days a week.
Handling it every now and then it's good to make it get use of you and your smell. And remember that they don't always want to be handled every time we are in the mood. :)
Just my two cents..

Thank guys!

BTW your 2 cents...makes a whole lotta sense...lol

Its really my kids who say "Momma its time to hold little dani"....lol well I enjoy it too! Last night he got a break, the kids were in trouble so that was the punishment....gosh growing up I wish it were that easy for me...Awww the 70's...lol

So do I feed him more than once a wk if we plan on holding him 5 days a wk or cut back on holding him to say 4 days a wk? ;) He's so darn cute...

I think a proper feeding schedule should take precidence over handling, and I would be feeding this snake at five day intervals until at least a yeat of age.

Feedind it every 5 or 7 days a proper sized mouse is really up to what you want for your snake.Everyone has his/her feeding schedules.Make a search and take your own choice,it will be the best. :)
Just try not to handle it at least 3.5 days after he eats to digest its food and not to stress him too much.
I know it's too hard some times not to play a little with a cute snaky... :crazy02:
Sometimes I try real hard not to handle mine over once a week.
