Plissken
Crazy Snail Lady
I just have to post here a small tribute to my rabbit Russell, who passed away on Friday. I had him for ten years.
He had suffered an injury to his hind leg. I left work early on Friday to take him to a vet and I was told that part of the leg would have to be removed. The vet wasn't sure how much, and he said there was a chance this wasn't salvageable, as he may have to cut back so far that my bun would no longer have enough to stand on (and a rabbit can't move about normally with only one back leg.) So I left him there and came home. Half an hour later the vets rang me, told me they couldn't save the leg, and asked my permission to put him to sleep. I said yes. It was the hardest decision of my life and one I pray I never have to make again.
I know to some he was 'just a rabbit', but to me he was like an old friend. I had him for ten years. I don't even remember what it was like before I had him. It amazes me sometimes how fast life turns on you; the whole thing was just so quick, ten years suddenly over in a heartbeat. One minute I had a beautiful bunny; the next I did not.
I have also recently lost my uncle, so it's really not a good time at the moment.
Sorry to make a post like this. But I just really needed to get this off my chest.
RIP Russ. Hope you're having fun over the bridge, old son.
