Air and Substrate Temps

I know that the temps are supposed to be about 82, but is that the air temp, or substrate? I have a temp gun reading 76 for the substrate, but i also have a normal, indoor out door termometer reading 82.3 for the air temps. Just wondering if it need to be cranked up a nothch or not.
Thanks in advance, Cate.

Well really the snake only needs to be able to get to an area that is in the middle 80's so if the glass under the substrate is around there it should be fine. There have been discussions on wether the substrate should be in the 80s but then the glass would be too hot so I would stick to measuring just the glass under the substrate. As for air temps I wouldn't really worry to much about them, as long as the snake can get to somewhere cooler (even just the water bowl) its nothing to worry about. Hope that helped ;)

If anything, your temps should be reversed to be ideal. Low to mid 80's for your hot spot... low to mid 70's for room temp. However the temps you have at the moment could very well be satisfactory on a daily basis. If you notice a great amount of activitity, or even worse, feeding problems, then you might fiddle with the temps. Until then, you're probably fine.
