I like Big Cheese Rodent Factory. http://www.bigcheeserodents.com/index.html

I haven't had the need to try any other rodent supplier because Big Cheese is less than 5 minutes from my office. I've visited their facility a few times now and have been very satisfied with their product. I pick up in person, but I have looked at their shipping prices and they seem to be very reasonable.

Other suppliers are RodentPro and The Mouse Factory. All three have a big following among forum members and the general herp-keeping public.

There have been lengthy threads on this topic in the past, where you'll find numerous opinions on it if you find the threads.

Rodent Pro< Big Cheese Rodent Factory< The Mouse Factory

All in my opinion, of course. I personally wouldn't waste the money on buying anything from Rodent Pro...yuck!

I like The Mouse Factory too. They're the only online supplier I've ever used, but I've never even considered trying anyone else. The only "problem" with TMF is that regular feeding with their product causes the snakes to grow like crazy. I can live with it. ;)

Mice Direct.com !!

As far as I can tell, they have the LOWEST PRICES of any of the on -line mice companies. You have to deal with the company you feel comfortable with. I would definetely visit their site though. If you try to call and can't reach them, send them an E- Mail.

Good luck .

The biggest factor isn't list price. I would put that third. First is quality, because it doesn't matter how cheap the mice are if they are nutritionally deficient. The Mouse Factory has never disappointed me. Second is shipping cost. The greatest variation comes in shipping costs. There are other reputable suppliers with prices that match or beat The Mouse Factory, but their shipping charges to California, where I live, obliterate any savings. As I said, I place list price third. I like the fact that TMF starts giving price breaks at 100 mice of ANY size. Other than pinks during hatching seasons, I rarely by 100 of one size, though my order is generally 200+ combined mice. From The Mouse Factory, I get clean, well-fed mice, shipped at a reasonable rate and for a good price in my quantities.

There have been previous discussions on this subject, but I want to try to bring something new to the discussion. I am a retired management analyst/consultant. One of the services I provided my customers was cost/benefit analysis. Basically before you can make an informed decision, you have to decide what's most important to you. I actually did a break even analysis on RodentPro, American Rodent Supply, Big Cheese Rodent Factory, American Rodent Supply, and The Mouse Factory.

It is not as simple a decision as one might think at first. First I did a projected feeding schedule on my snakes. This was the hardest part, as all of my snakes are still growing. I used Dean's feeding plan to estimate what size food I would need for each of my snakes over a 90 day period. I then compared the unit cost of each required size, the package size available from each vendor, and the shipping costs for each supplier.

American Rodent Supply is the only vendor of the four I haven't used. I can't vouch personally for the quality of their product, but I have heard good things about them. They provide free shipping for orders over $100, but their unit cost is very high. I ended up ordering from The Mouse Factory because they had the smaller packages I needed (I only have ten snakes), they had reasonable shipping costs, they had the best product weight (they tend to have bigger pinks/fuzzies/hoppers/etc than their competitors), and they had the best quality. Apart from the aforementioned weight issue, they have the prettiest, vacuum packed rodents you will ever see. It looks like they shampoo the mice and blow dry them.

None of this will be of any use to you if you don't have a place to store the frozen product. My wife and daughter have learned not to open the tubs in the back of the freezer. Now you can see where they get the term "anal". It's short for "analytical". And you thought it was anatomically based. :smash:

Honestly, I just wanted you to know there's a lot to consider. You have to figure out what works for you.

Hmmm...when I said it, it didn't sound nearly so scholarly

I live alone, but I still mark the containers in the freezer, "Adult Mice", "Pinkie Mice", "Fuzzy Mice", etc., just in case a visitor ever goes to get ice and wonders what leftovers there might be. I tell them they're pretty good, sauteed with a bit of garlic butter. I enjoy the particular shade of green their faces turn

Admittedly, that's the best post on this topic anyone has made. Reminds me of some of Serp's old posts that went into all kinds of calculations . . . *sniff*
