Soil as a substrate?

I've been thinking about using some soil I bought from WalMart as a substrate for my corn. I read that there is perlite in the soil, would this be bad for my snake? Thank you in advance.
 
Soil is extremely messy to work with, both for you and your snake. I wouldn't recommend it. I would think that the soil would get under his scales and more or less everywhere.

I used it for a short while with my giant snails, and I absolutely hated it. It stuck to my skin even when my hands were dry.
 
Alright, again thank you. I'm currently using newspaper and I don't think I'd want to stress her even more by having to put her into a different tank anyway.
 
i recently changed substrate and used aspen. i tell you know i wish i had stuck with newspaper. it i sooooooo much easier on newspaper. if you still want to change substrate i would recomend aspen or beech chip. make sure you dont use anything with pine or cedar in (you've probably been told a million times but just making sure)
