Hi,

Firstly, congrats on your first corn! Hope you enjoy the little chap!

Secondly, there is tons that you should know (I hope that you did your research before buying your snake)

I hope "boks" is just a translation problem and that you have your snake in a suitable snake-friendly container...a cardboard box is not appropriate to keep a snake in, particularly due to the high possibility of your corn escaping.

Where did you get this snake from? A reputable breeder would never sell an animal that hadn't had it's first shed and at least 2 meals.

Just make sure the snake has ventillation (holes for air), clean water and a suitable substrate (Newspaper works well) as well as a place for the snake to hide on the warm side and the cool side of the container. Also make sure that you have some form of safe heating device and that the temperatures in the cage are maintained at the correct levels.

thanks man, i didnt know that it was to early to get the snake. so i should spray the little cage??? am worried if it dont change the skinn. because i want to se the snake eat so i know it is healthy.

Robin, is there any way you could take the snake back to the breeder and wait until it's taken at least 3 meals? It was not really good of them to give a new owner such a young snake.
If not, all I can really suggest is immersing yourself in researching all the information you can find so the conditions are as good as can be, then describe your set-up, with pictures if possible, then ask specific questions for anything you're not sure of.

To help your snake to shed for the first time, keep the humidity in its container high, either by misting or by providing a warm, damp hide for the snake to use. Just dampen a paper towel or a piece of newspaper and wring it out, then crunch it up in the snake's container. What are you using to give the snake water? A shallow plastic jar lid will provide both water to drink and a bathing pool if the snake wants to climb in, also making shedding easier.

Have you purchased small pinkies for its first meal? These need to be as small as possible so the snake has no problem swallowing them. The snake may not eat right away. Don't get discouraged. Try again four days later.

You were told correctly. Wait until after the snake sheds (that's the term for "loosing its skin") for the first time, then offer a warm pinkie the next day. The only item I don't see in your list is something for the snake to hide under. Corn snakes like to curl up under or inside something. The empty cardboard tube from toilet paper will work, or any small box with a hole for the snake to crawl through. You seem to be doing the right things, so be patient and things should be okay.

thanks, i have a empty cardboard tube in the cage. thesnake have lose the skinn:):) butt the snake wont eat.. somthing i should do??? i will putt up some picture tomorrow, i must chaange the size on them.

Give it time. If it doesn't eat this time, wait four days and try again then. The snake will be fine missing quite a few meals before it's in any trouble. Don't worry, just offer the food every four days for the next month and see if it starts eating on its own.

shall i putt the pinkiein the freezer again???? and try to feed it in foure dayes
Yes. You can try that pinkie one more time (in four days), but then throw it away and try a new one the next time. It's not good after freezing and thawing more than one extra time, better to use a clean one.

:-offtopic Has anyone noticed how far flung those posting in this thread are? Norway, South Africa, the United Kingdom and both Wisconsin and California in the United States (those two states are about as far apart as Poland and Portugal). I'm still amazed at how accessible the internet has made the rest of the world. :)
