It's Jager time!
Hi again folks, I have had a few naggers (LOL) remind me I have missed a WIR. Sorry folks, sometimes my week is just packed with other things and 2 – 3 hours set aside for the WIR is not possible. I would rather not do it than do a half arsed job. BTW just a hint, I’m in a “gray snake” mood this week so be sure to post all anery and charcoal based morphs… stripes and bloods tickle my fancy too :p

I am looking for people to help contribute. Ie thread picks, member of the month nominations and anything else you guys think would work well in the WIR. Please send all suggestions to me via PM.

Thanks guys. There were not that many decent pictures this week btw. It was a struggle to make the WIR worthwhile!

I think it's a great WIR! I think the only thing I missed was cuddles' photo. I did _not_ miss Carol's lav blood, the most beautiful corn ever hatched!! Wow.

Not too many nice photos? You wound us with your words Elle! :sidestep:

Sweeet *pokes Nagini* Wake up and look purdy!

Have we ever had a member of the month? I always see you mentioning it at the end for suggestions, is it just because we haven't suggested yet? :shrugs:

Nagini in blue... or maybe yellow would be nice :p

No one has made any MOTM suggestions, or no one has volunteered themselves with some valid reasons as to why they should be considered for MOTM. I live in hope though ;)

Again a very good W.I.R. Elle but it is not actually a "Week" in review now is it? I don't feel I was being a "nagger" when you yourself told us to remind you when you were being lax especially when it has been more then one week you have missed. It is just my opinion but I feel you are somewhat obligated to make sure it is done each and every week. Whether you do it yourself or you have someone fill in for you, either way it was the premise that this venture was based on. You were the one who originally wanted to have a W.I.R. and you were met with some resistance. This resistance I feel was somewhat based on the possibility of it not being done every week. You started to post them in the General Chit Chat forum until Brent was nice enough to suggest the idea of having a contest to come up with the funds so that you might be able to have your own personal forum to post the W.I.R. This was a very nice gesture on his part, as well as all the members who entered the contest and paid the money, so that you would be able to have a venue in which to post them. I feel somewhat put out by you saying that you don't have the time and it will be "posted when it is posted" attitude. Why did we pay money for you to not follow through with your commitment? Your the one who asked for this and it is your baby so I feel you are obligated to the members of CS.com to make sure that it is done each and every week. If not by you personally then by someone who is willing to fill in for you. It seems lately that every time someone brings up the issue of the W.I.R. not being posted you seem to come off like it is no big deal. I feel that it is a big deal as I paid money for you to have what you wanted. You might say "Well you got a snake for your money" and I did, a very nice one in fact, but the truth be told I would have paid the $10.00 anyway because I thought you were going to be somewhat passionate about making sure that the W.I.R. was posted every week. Hell, because I thought it was such a good idea I would have paid the whole $50.00 but I feel you are letting yourself and the rest of us down. If you weren't prepared to make sure that it is done each and every week then you shouldn't have offered to take on the task. I feel you are slacking and being somewhat smug in the fact that you don't seem to care whether it is done or not. I am sorry to say that if things don't change I will not be contributing, making contest or joining contests that will fund the "W.I.R. Forum". I feel why should I pay for something that I will not be getting. I might as well flush cash down the toilet as I would get the same thing....nothing. Elle I am sorry if I am coming off harsh and please understand that I am not trying to personally attack or hurt you in any way but I feel this needs to be said. Like I stated before, it is your obligation to make sure that it is done each and every week either by you or someone you choose to fill in for you. There is a reason why it is called "The Week In Review". If there is some reason you can't do it or feel that you won't be able to continue to post them every week then maybe you should ask someone else if they want the job and take over the forum. I know people have "Lives" and the world doen't revolve around CS.com but a job is a job and it needs to be done. If you need help with it getting done then ask. If you don't have the time or energy to make sure it is done every week then step down and let someone else have the job if they want it. You need to know Elle that I have nothing but respect for you and if I didn't I wouldn't be making this post. I feel you needed a kick in the ass or a quick jump start to make sure we get our weekly dose of the W.I.R.
J.M.O. (and I know it ain't worth .02)

My eyes hurt reading all of that.
I've been one of the people who's been on Elle's tail about the WIR because I like seeing it done. I guess I don't feel as passionatly about it because I didn't chip money in for it. But I do feel bad for those who did spend money on something that's not always happening. And I have offered to help, so I'll offer again Elle. You know I spend a lot of time on the computer so if theres a certain aspect you want me to scrounge up for you I would certainly volunteer.

Edit: o_O I didn't know you had the ability to edit other peoples posts on your private forum. Freaky.

And now the post is back and I am very confused.

Jay,

I understand completely where you AND others are coming from. The "naggers" mention was sarcasm on my behalf. I know I slack at the job sometimes. I know I should get on with it when others have paid their hard earned money (be it $10 or $50).

Sometimes I just don't feel there has been much of anything to post about, therefore I feel 3 hours to compose the WIR is wasted. Like I said, I would rather do it to a high standard than have it done sloppy.

It also doesn't help when I post the WIR and at times it get no "attention" or praise. Not that I need it, but I just feel like people don't appreciate the work I put in. Nonetheless I have never complained about the job, and I enjoy it when I have the time to sit for 2-3 hours in front of my computer writing out the codes, editing pictures, uploading them to a personal photobucket account and making the WIR presentable.

Life gets in the way, sometimes the last thing on earth I want to do is the WIR. But as you suggested I could ask others... however I feel that is not right. I feel this is MY project and I like to do it myself. Sure suggestions and links to threads are ALWAYS welcome but I haven't had a SINGLE suggestion since this started. Honestly.

I appreciate Joe and Chris filling in for me once or twice, and they have done a good job. If anyone wants to guest "host" the WIR please come forward and tell me!

I do my best Jay, sometimes I know it is not enough.

I didn't mean to write my reply on Jays post. I always click edit instead of quote... my mistake. Fixed though.

Oh not at all Jen! Please by all means post anything I have missed. I simply cannot post everything everyone does.

But wait- Elle didn't solicit funds. It was someone's idea to raffle a snake to pay for the WIR forum. We contributed/bought chances- but I don't think there was any implied contract that if Elle accepted the donated space, she had to produce. We just kind of gave it to her...I think she's doing a wonderful job. I think her stand-in Joe did a great job, too.

We don't all browse the forum in the same way. I'm a "new posts" kind of browser, so I'm unlikely to miss a WIR. But I've seen members post that they hardly knew that the private forums exist, and others post that they don't usually make it down that far in the main listing. These people may routinely miss the WIRs.

I suggest that you (Elle) post a linking thread to the WIR in the photo gallery each time a new WIR is assembled. I'm guessing that its biggest fans (of which I am one) regularly browse the photo gallery forum anyway. Then I suggest that the personal forum in which it now resides not be renewed after its current date of expiry. After that, the WIR should be posted in the photo gallery.

I also suggest that you (Elle) assemble a group of volunteer back-ups who can commit to assembling a WIR when you are unable to do so. The notification time for activating a back-up should be determined by you and the back-ups. A weekly deadline should be designated (imo).

I should add that I'm a contributing member to the WIR forum, and I personally have no problems with how it has gone so far. I'm just offering suggestions that will hopefully preserve this valuable feature, and minimize disappointment from those with expectations that are different from mine.

Although Elle was the one to suggest this originally, and as such it's her "baby", it's something that benefits and is of interest to the whole forum - a community project, as such. Many of us contribute towards the cost of cornsnakes.com, some of you contributed to this forum (I didn't as I didn't get my money in on time .. sorry), and it's only fair that we contribute to this too. If we think it's worth reading, surely it's worth helping out with?

My suggestion, for what it's worth ...

The main sections of the WIR are new additions, breedings/pippers, morph photos, thread picks, new members. Member of the month has been suggested as a new section, and there are probably some other great ideas for additions out there - somewhere!

What I can see to make Elle's workload smaller is to split it. If we have one person working on each section then it can all be sent to Elle to post the WIR as a whole. I couldn't find the time to do a WIR, but I could find the time to help out and compile say, just the photos of this week's pippers, or just the morph photos. Having a guest host for a week means one person has just as much work to do as Elle does now, but splitting it would mean a much easier job for all involved.
