Helloooooo out there!
Ahhh, my first newbie question! When you feed the baby (11 inches?) in a tupperware container, may I ask what shape and size you use? Is a round container preferred over a square? Hope thats not a dumb question. :dunce: Also, do you use those clear containers or solid, like a cool whip container? And how big should it be? Thanks!
 
I don't think it makes a lot of difference... I like clear containers so I can see if they have eaten without taking off the lid. I fed my last hatchlings in a critter keeper that I'd estimate to be about 2 gallons in size. I reckon most people go smaller. One suggestion I like is the soup containers you get from chinese take out. :D
 
I use 3 cup gladware for feeding my hatchlings :) clear with a clear/blue top. circle or oblong doesnt really matter... but I prefer clear so I can see when they are done. They are super easy to clean too. Cheap helps too :grin01:
 
Thankyou...I have those containers in the kitchen right now! I see by your signature line that I am not alone in the world as the crazy animal lady, which is how most friends and family view me. Comforting. :)
 
LOL oh no ;) I am known as the bird lady and snake lady around these parts ;) hehe Its actually kinda cool when the vet calls You for advice ;) I love my animals.... they each are different and all hold a special place in my heart :)
 
I currently use Faunarium tanks to feed all my snakes in. I think my corn is currently using the medium size. They work really well for feeding in. :)
 
The only escape I have had so far has been out of a feeding container. Be very careful that it latches securely on all sides. Also be careful of catching little tails in the lid! If I leave a feeding container with a snake alone, I pretty much always put something heavy on the top, except for the deli-cup types that snap shut securely.

For hatchlings I feed in an 8 oz deli cup. However, the smaller gladware ones work very well too. Just be sure to poke some holes in them so they can breathe. Gladware is great for things like feeding tubs and even housing hatchlings until they get bigger.

I got a medium-sized one of those for Eve, but I, too, was afraid of accidentally catching something important in the lid when I snapped it shut. (Eve's still really skittish and keeps trying to climb out.) So I moved my hermit crab in there since she NEVER MOVES and doesn't need much space. Now I feed Eve in the 10-gallon tank the crab lived in.
