Helloooooo out there!
Well, I've had "Noodles" for 3 whole days now and "she" is settling down nicely. No more crazy surfing all over the cage looking for a way out.
I got a dimmer switch for her heat pad and brought the temp (probe) down to 86F. Can't believe it was 101F! No wonder the poor thing was curled up as far away from it between her water dish and the glass when I got home the next day! Now she is happy curled up in her warm hide.
I haven't handled her yet--I wanted to give her time to settle in. A friend is coming over tomorrow hopefully to help me try the popping method of sexing "her". I hate not knowing. The friend used to have a ball python, so she is comfortable with snakes. I'm not ready to do that on my own just yet! Have ordered 50 pinkies from the Cheese Factory which I think will be here tomorrow. Will try to feed her one this weekend. Keeping fingers crossed that first feeding goes well! When I was in Petco on Friday, "she" wasn't there, so I think she just came in on Monday and I bought her Monday night. No bump visible, so I really don't think they fed her anything yet. She is approximately 11 inches long. I'll weigh her tomorrow when my friend comes to help. Does this sound like a new hatchling? What time of the year do they hatch--only specific months or any time? Thanks for any help. I'm learning from you all!
