How long will a hatcling be on pinkies?

I am still doing some research before buying a snake. My question is, how long will an average hatchling be on pinkies? The reason I ask is that I am trying to decide if it is worth is to buy pinkies in bulk with only one snake. I think you can get bags of 50 pinkies...so would I end up throwing them away when my snake gets bigger? I know I could move up to 2 pinkies in a feeding...but from what I've read going any more than that might not be a good idea.

thanks

You move up to double pinkies, and if for some reason when you're next size up, fuzzies are too small you can suppliment with pinkies too.
There is no reason to ever throw away perfectly good food.

As for how long they'll actually be at that size I can't say because I never had a hatchling.

Never had a hatchling? Your missing out my friend :p.
I bought 6 pinkies for my hatchling and fed him 1 pink for the first 4 feedings, then moved on to double pink for one feeding then onto small fuzzies.

It really depends on the size of the hatchling. If it's newly hatched and hasn't eaten much, if at all, it will need very small pinkies and you won't need 50 of those.

Seriously, 50 of any size pinky is too many for one snake.

That's ok I got my snake at 7 months old, I don't know how I would have handled a little squiggly worm as my first snake.

I don't think 50 regular pinks is that many for one snake:

Feed one pinkie every four days for the first eight feedings (just over a month).
Feed two pinkies every five days for two months.
At four months, switch the snake to fuzzies, every six days.
At six months, add a pinkie to each feeding.
When the last of the pinkies is gone, increase to two fuzzies, once a week.

That doesn't sound like an out of the ordinary feeding schedule.

I fed Jool every three days, now I feed hatchlings twice a week.

We used to buy batches of 25 pinks from our local pet shop. You had to place an order to them for pinks, they didn't have a freezer, the pinks came in unfrozen, they were sent out unfrozen and were killed on the day from wherever they came from. We then took them home and froze them.

Anyway, say if you're feeding twice per week (I feed Monday and Thursday for example), your baby will start out maybe one pink twice a week = two pinks. After I had Jool for about 6 weeks (she was about 2-3 months when I got her, about 11in long) , I noticed her looking up at me after she swallowed her pink. Thinking she was being friendly I put my hand down to her and ended up with a tiny snakelet attached to my index finger. She let go after a few seconds (unlike the 3ft+ boa that grabbed me two days ago. didn't appear she would let go, so I had to apply pressure behind her head).
I then realised that it was time for Ms Joolushko (she's named after a character in Farscape whose full name was Joolushko Tunai Fenta Hovalis) to get two pinks per feed.

So that was 2 pinks twice a week = 4 pinks

Within a few weeks she was on three pinks per feeding, so that was six pinks per week.

When the last of the final batch of pinks we ordered ran out, she was moved up to the next size fuzzy mice.

She'll eat a large mouse now, potentially a jumbo mouse, she's only a little corn, about 3 1/2 ft I'd say. She currently gravid with her third clutch this year and I just want her to get over and lay the d*** eggs, I don't care if they're fertile or not at this stage, I just want them out of her because I want her to be healthy and not become eggbound.
