Can someone show me a picture of how pinkys are supposed to look?

I've bought some at my local pet store, and when I thaw em out, they're kind of odd looking... They have purple tummies and are sometimes missing limbs and just look weird. Should I just go to petco?

Nope, sounds normal to me. It's very common to see thru the little buggers to their organs and missing limbs will just keep them from running away from your snake...:sidestep:

LOL

sounds normal to me too... I raise alot of my own and they look the same way. The reasoning behind the missing limbs is that they are so fragile after being frozen that when they are bumped around inside the bags, the limbs, tails will sometimes break off.

+1 all of my frozen pinkies generally look messed up. I think if I ever saw one with all four legs I'd faint! :D

you'll get the same from Petco or even worse...I get most of mine there right now till my colony I just set up starts producing well, and I have to search through the bags of the Gourmet Rodent products that they have to make sure that:
1. the bags are sealed ---- so many have come ripped, or with holes in
2. The right number missing --- I kept getting 3 packs with only 2 pinkies in them
3. That they aren't frozen all in one lump --- I am certain they didn't come from Gourmet Rodent that way, they had to have been thawed at least a little and then refrozen that they stick together in one frozen lump.

I have to laugh at my local petstore because they just keep refilling the frozen bag they keep there and in the bottom there are all these little legs and tails.

My husband flipped out when he found a tiny paw in the bathroom sink after I had thawed mice. He made me remove it. But then, when crickets get out, I make him do the dirty work. :grin01:

So I got some at Petco and they where all spliced together in to one.

I tried separating them and accidentally beheaded one.

But it ate now. So it's all good.

I've had the same experience with sorting through the bags of Gourmet Rodents. I had to start ordering online because they only had fuzzies and adult mice at Petco.

Back on topic...
It sounds like your pinkies are normal. All pinkies are slightly weird looking. Without the fur, you can really see their organs. A bit gross, but normal.

Don't want to start another topic but...

How long do they take to poop?

I've had im for a month and fed him twice.

No poop to be seen :shrugs:

ummmm your feeding pinkies which would mean a very young snake but you have only fed him 2 times in a month?? I'm sorry, I dont understand that....

I agree you are not feeding him often enough. He ought to be eating every five days.

Wellt he first two weeks it did not want to eat.

These past two weeks it has thanks to Nanci and others.

I thought it was every 7 days that it was supposed to eb fed though, my mistake.

And I did see poop. :puke01:

Fed it Sunday, that means i'll feed it tomorrow, right?

Yes, that's right, Friday. I forgot about the not eating part. If you think poo is :puke01: now, just wait till you have a 900 gram snake!! :puke01: :puke01: :puke01: :puke01:
