New Critters and the Stargazers

Mrs InsaneOne

I See Snakes...
Well, we purchased a little normal boy from Shane (Emanon) for future projects, our youngest daughter claimed the little motley girl that we won on a raffle...(thanks Stephen!) and then Tim was given two stargazing females that we hope will grow up and thrive to help us test out our male sunkissed who is 50% possible het stargazing.

Here's the pics of the motley whom our daughter has named 'Daisy' (we'll get better pics once she settle in to her new home.)

And here are the stargazers:

The stargazers are both 06's and are fairly active. It's very obvious that there is something not quite right with them every time they move. Though, the more excited or aggravated they are the more exaggerated the condition becomes. Something that is hard to capture in a picture, and we don't currently have a way to capture it on video. If any one has questions about the stargazers - please PM me and I'll pass along the links I have.

I'll be posting pics of the normal boy once we get some better pics of him! OH, and there's one more we ended up coming home with, I'll post her pics in the next thread!

I meant next post... *sigh*... Here's the adult snow formerly known as 'Piss', due to the amount of yellow she has.

She'll be getting a new name, once Tim agrees to admit that the one I picked out is best. *dusks head and runs* only because I really don't want the girls running around saying 'Piss'.

Anyway, here she is in the blue:

Now, I just need pics of the normal... which I'll get in a day or two after he settles in.

You know, it just doesn't sound right when the kids ask if Tim or I can take a picture of them holding Piss... Tim wanted to leave it, and if not for the tender innocence of the children, I would consider it. But, well... :shrugs:

Oh? She have an interesting baby come out of the second clutch eh? I'll have to look for the thread when you post it! lol... I'll have to get back to you on that though... as she's already been slated for a project of Tim's for next year.

I love the last pic, looks like she's trying to give you a kiss.
Thanks! She is just the sweetest thing, very curious too - when I was taking her pics before tucking her away. Very calm considering how much time she'd spent traveling the last couple of days.

I really have mixed feelings on this whole stargazing bit. I really hope you didn't *pay* to get them. To me that's something that should be culled right off the bat, but to each their own I suppose...

A kiss from Piss! You bought a famous snake! I wonder if you could change her name to something not as vulgar, like PeePee or PeeWee or Micturate!

As I mentioned in the first post, they were given to Tim by the breeder and we gave him our contact information so he could keep in contact with us and get more information about stargazing in general. He was not offering these, or any other stargazers for sale.

As for why we got them, we needed a known carrier of the stargazing gene in order to test our male that we got from Connie in 06. Jasper's mother was proved to be carrying the gene this year so our snake has a 50% chance of having inherited it from her.

Any and all known stargazers produced will be humanly euthanized and our male will be retired from all projects. We will also make it a point to register all offspring with the ACR so that they can be tracked. Any known carriers of the gene will be offered to breeders who are serious about testing their own stock with conditions.

I'd much rather prove Jasper out one way or another, then just breed him and possibly pass on a detrimental gene through ignorance.

lol, the Snake Formerly Known as Piss... I guess I'll have to label her as such each time I post pictures! lol I wanted to name her Chlorite, because of the yellow and because of the reference to chlorine which brings to mind all of the children who piddled in the pool when I used to lifeguard at the YMCA. lol

Those poor stargazers! That's the first time I have seen a photo of that. Rabbits have a similar thing thats actually a disease rather than a gene, and it is the saddest thing you ever want to see.

There are a wide away of diseases and genetic defects that cause similar conditions in various types of animals. Some of them are more life-threatening then others.

For these two snakes, it doesn't seem to cause them any discomfort except when they are over-stimulated. They eat, shed, and go poo just like a normal snake for the most part. I'm not saying that stargazing is a good thing - far from it, I'm just saying that the snake doesn't spend it's entire life in complete discomfort or pain.

I love that snow. :)
Thanks! She's is a very sweet girl and her yellows are usually brighter, she was just in blue in those pics. She's clearing up now, so new pictures are due here any day once she drops her old skin.
