New Arrivals: Golddust Stripes (And MORE)

What an amazing morning for a corn enthusiast. I got to see in person things that I've never seen: golddust stripes, golddust motleys, and ultramel motleys.

Stephen Wagner from Cali borrowed my male butter stripe and bred him to several of his females, and the results were outstanding. I feel like a thief or something-- like it can't be legal. I buy a butter stripe male, feed him for 18 months, send him away, and he comes back with amazing morphs that would have cost me BIG bucks to buy outright. I thank Stephen for the awesome opportunity.

I'm keeping the golddust stripes, but I haven't decided what else I'm keeping. Look for ads soon. First up are Gordon and Goldie, the golddust stripes (first two pics are Gordon):

Next up are an ultramel mot male, a golddust mot male, and a normal triple-het for sunkissed, anery, and bloodred male. These are only a few examples of some of the snakes that came today. My camera batteries died, so these were all the hatchlings I could photograph.

Beautiful stripes Dean, I like their eyes a lot. I am not a fan of the ultra gene at all and never plan on working with it, but I can see the desired effect in those morphs.

I'm pretty sure that those first ones are just Everglades Rats :grin01: You should probably just send them my way. :)

Oh Dean, you lucky duck!

They are outstanding! I never knew I liked goldusts, but I guess I do!! The others are gorgeous too.
It must be like Christmas at your place.

Snakey Claus visited you.....and soon it will be myyyyyyyyy turn!

*sings*
o I better be good, I better not cry, I better not pout I'm tellin' ya why...Snakey Claus is comin' to town!

I know this is blasphemy, but I like that male normal the best! This is unusual for me, because I'm not that taken with normals, but there's something really appealing about that one. I like him so much that I'd offer to buy him if I were allowed to get another snake! Congrats on the new arrivals!

Thanks folks. :D

Thanks Stephanie. You can be forgiven for your blasphemy; he's awesome. The female looks great too. They're so vibrant for such young thangs. I got a pair of quad-hets for hypo, lavender, caramel, and motley too, but they're a bit less impressive visually. But they're sure packin' some cool stuff. :)

Very cool snakes Dean! And not too shabby for a breeding loan either!

With regards to the golddust stripes, they don't look that different from butter stripes (at least not based on the pics, to me anyways). Whereas pics of golddust motleys I've seen look like a nice in between between caramel and butter. Do they have a more distince look to them in person from the butter stripes?

Thanks CC1. :)

Thanks Matthew. Well, obviously golddusts' eyes look different from butters'. To me, the gd mots DO look darker than the gd stripes. I don't know if it's an illusion due to the difference in pigment coverage between mots and stripes. :shrugs: The female gd stripe is darker than the male. This isn't shocking. Of course, I believe that amel and ultra are variably co-dominant, so there may be big differences between individual ultramels anyway.

Yeah, I wonder if it could just ben an illusion to the pigment being "stretched" out. And I think you could be correct about the variably co-dominant part. I've seen ultramels that look closer to amel and others that look closer to ultra. I think this gene is still too new and that it'll take a lot more breeding and observations to fully understand it.

wow ther really beutiful snakes!

Thanks. :) Golddust-anything isn't very common, but I don't think I've ever seen golddust-stripes for sale. Doesn't mean they aren't out there.

Wonderful snakes, Dean!

Congrats on getting these li'l beauties.
Thanks Deb. :D There was other good stuff in the box too that I don't think I mentioned. There were Butter-Mots and Amel-Mots (sure to be sunglow) too. :)

Besides Stephen's pics, those golddust stripes are a first for me! Wow Dean....lucky man for sure! I'm hoping to get some of those...but it'll be a little while. Nice breeding loan with that one!

Cheers!
