PVC Hides...

I was going to make some new hides out of PVC pipe by cutting it in half lengthwise. Anyways, I'd like to paint them and give them a little better look. My question is.. what kind of paint I should use.. or does it matter if i use a sealant? What kind of sealant is best.. or do I even need one? I will be periodcally cleaning these hides in the bleach water solution with everything else.. so i'm looking for something that won't be affected by the bleach. Your help as always is appreciated...

Hmm... PVC is one of those things that don't paint well at all. My suggestion would be the just leave the PVC as is. The ONLY paint I've found that stuck to PVC and stayed on was automotive paint (which I don't think is too safe). Priming is a must, or the paint just rubs off with a finger nail (and even after priming the paint just won't stay). Not sure on what to tell you, PVC is simply not paint friendly stuff.

If there is an Orchard Supply Hardware

near you, check with them. There is a black PVC pipe out there and they have it. Check Home Depot and Lowes also. Drain pipe works well also. There's tons of stuff out there in the plumbing department that doesn't need painting. If you must paint, then Krylon has a spray paint designed for spraying onto plastic items--like outdoor furniture. Look arround.
