Hi I stupidly put electrical tape, in the viv to prevent my girlfriends son getting behind the background on the boys exo terra.
Got home today and he was stuck to the electrical tape, It was all over him , I have got it off him as gently as I could but he has lost some skin/scales on 1 section of him about 1 inch long.
He seems okay but I dont want him to get an infection, and loose him.
Is there anything i can give him to prevent this.

Please help the stupin english man , as if we loose the corn my girlfriends son is going to :twoguns: me

First, remove any remaining tape  Then in order to prevent infection, put a little neosporin or polysporin on the area that has lost the scales. You will probably have to remove any substrate from the viv, unless you are using newspaper or paper towels. Next, try not to handle the snake for a few days. It is probably stressed out and needs some privacy.Make sure it has plenty of water. Check the area in a few days and put more neosporin on it if needed.

Keep us updated.

" neosporin or polysporin "

It's a bit late now, but in case anyone in a similar situation finds this thread, the best way to get tape off a snake is to gently swab veggie oil on the tape near the snakes skin. The oil will gradually soften the adhesive and allow the snake to wriggle free with your gentle help. After, carefully wash the oil from the snake.

Best of luck with your little fellow.

Neosporin and polysporin are two name-brand antibiotic ointments. Removing the substrate and using paper instead, reduces the chance of further irriation of the injury.

Neosporin/polysporin is a triple antibiotic ointment. It prevents infection. Can also be sold as Mycitracin and Topisporin. I am sure there is a UK equivilent.

The reason to remove the substrate is that it can stick to the ointment. Also with the snake moving around in it, it can continue to irritate the area of skin loss.

Betadine is the stuff normally used in the UK. You can buy it from a vet or use the human version (it's non-prescription over here).
