heat tape

tsst

Deuce is watching!
I was wondering if everyone uses Flexwatt heat tape or if any have tried the heat tape like at DIY places used for water pipes and such.

Anyone else ever have this issue with flexwatt? Found this online while researching heat options for new viv system. There was an issue with thermostat and it run full power and over heated and burnt.

I use flexwatt. I haven't had any problems. Even running full power the flexwatt shouldn't burn itself up like that. I bet there were other factors...

I have 2 Animal Plastics "Economy Plastic" racks that use heat rope, I believe it is the same heat rope sold at home improvement stores for wrapping around pipes to keep them from freezing.

With a proportional thermostat it works just fine, my Herpstat ND keeps the temperature to within a fraction of a degree.

There is a groove in the shelves as well as on the sides and the rope is threaded in a zig zag pattern through the rack and pushed down into the groove. It doesn't budge and the groove allows for a gap and some air space between the heat rope and the actual tub.

I don't know, it would be handy but I can't really get it in Canada as it's not CSA certified. Don't know if that means anything, but there you go.
