I was very surprised... but maybe I was wrong about this?

I am not just a member here on wonderful cornsnakes.com, but I'm also a member on a ball python forum. One of the newer members asked a question about if you can re-freeze mice once thawed - and someone told them that re-freezing once is ok.

I was shocked. I don't know why, but I always thought that you should never do that. I can't exactly say why I think this, but I feel like it was something that I remember reading when I first got into snakes...

Am I wrong?

I personally wouldn't choose to do it, but considering what they can and do eat in the wild, re-freezing once (or even twice) couldn't be too bad. :shrugs:

I've done it before with no ill effects, but only refreezing once. I wouldn't try a second time.

I too have refrozen once, with no ill effects.

I Have refrozen mice and rats but only if they have only been out for a couple hours. Most of my snakes.. well, if it isnt gone in that time it wont be.. that is the larger size.. on smaller ones, I usually throw them away. I dont think there is too much risk if the prey has only been out for a short time but on the little ones... I have quite a few so I dont take the chance of refeeding those
