Down with the sickness
Well after I bred my Hypo Lav male to a Motley, they only produced one egg. I was really bummed and thought I would have to shell out some big bucks for another male. I held my breath for the second female that was bred to him (double het for hypo lav) and she layed 10 good eggs! I guess he is not so bad after all. He is only an 01 and was not brumated so he'll probably do better next year. My motley is also double clutching so maybe I'll get another egg out of her so I can hope for a pair. :D
I also bred this Hypo Lav male to a Bloodred and then used another Bloodred as a back-up, so I won't know if he produced anything in this clutch until they hatch. They are due to be layed any day now.

Congrats!

Good luck with those hypo Lavs!

It's always a disappointment when you have high hopes for a project and the eggs are slugs or non existant! I can see why the large scale breeders have 4.4 or more of snakes that are high priority. I've got a few females that just don't put out good clutches. My Candycane female and my Lav female het Opal are poor producers. On the other hand, I've got another femlae that produced 36 eggs and retained 2. That's a 38 egg clutch!
Why can't that be my Lav female!?!

How are the Milksnake phase Motleys coming along? Well, I hope ;)

Well one of the Milk Mot females was the one I bred to the Hypo Lav and only layed one fertile. However, my other really nice female that was bred to another Milk Mot layed 17 eggs and 3 have since gone bad. So 14 good eggs is not too bad. Her babies were really large and healthy last year.
I bred the parents of my really nice Miami (Milk Mot x Crimson) and mom is going to drop any day I can feel about 20 in there but I still can't wait for them to come out!
Here is what else I have on the ground or coming soon:

Miami het amel x Miami Motley het amel = 15 small eggs

Almost Banded Hypo Miami x Banded = 17 eggs this morning and still laying

Hypo Lav x Bloodred (also bred a Bloodred to her) due any day

Hypo Miami x Crimson due any day

I have never gotton more than 21 eggs in a single clutch but I haven't been doing this very long. Most I ever got from one snake in a season is 40 though, 20 in the first clutch and 20 in the second. It stressed her so much she got a RI so I gave her the year off and she is NOT apprieciative.
