does anybody know how to get rid of mites as well. i brought a male had no mites before him and now i do. i have nearly 80 rats so i can't really use skip flea it works but it has to sit on each rat 5 min. i got some mite stuff from the vet which costs me $32 but that has to sit on them for 10 min

Well I'll take a stab but it is based on female cats, dogs and humans. Frequency (pees a lot), has odor, if drinking alot also could be daibetes. Have any of them had babies, recently?

As for change in food I know it effects my dog, he loves lamb and rice wet food and it gives him well gas which is really bad.

Well this may be a bit of a chore, but take out each one and check her out does she look red and inflamed smell for foul odor, sorry dont' know the anatomical names for rats. Or is there a yellowish discharge she could have not expelled all the afterbirth. The URI would make it look red or kind of scortched look. If any of them is possible I would seperate them. You can get a supp at feed store for cows, goats.... that might help with infection.

shes fine in that area. could it been thet are puting off more scent because of the males? they are in cages above them. i just now thought of that because i just moved them a few days ago.

Well you got me thinking as I have two males in seperate rooms. The hairless and his girls are in my room. The lone preggers female is in a cage on top of that one. So I started checking and inspecting and it is the lone female who smell, it smells both like rotten animal and pee. All I can think of she is doing this to warn off other rats???? She is due any day. Because of limited space I have a snake tub on top of all this; so big rat cage, smaller 30x30 rat cage and then snake in tub (brumating). I don't want to disturb her at this moment to change out the bedding and rags (I cut up old rags and socks and give to them for bedding). Good luck with the smell if you come up with anything let me know. susang
