What's one more???
So many eggs from such a small girl! This snake is 6 years old, but is only just over 3 feet long. She has laid 20 eggs so far (1 slug), and still has 1 or two to go.

Thanks bmm!

By the way, I hope things are going well with your eggs! How are they looking so far?

Excellent!!!

I couldn't be happier at this point, mostly because of the lack of work it takes on my part now. *L* My humidity is at 80% which worried me for like a week or so but the eggs are all really rounding out and firm and white.

Its so exciting!!!!

Wonderful!

I'm glad to hear that everything is going well! How many did you end up with? I only have 2 clutches...31 viable eggs. I also had one very small clutch of cal king eggs, but only one baby made it.

Well, good luck and have FUN!!

This is her and his first year so I feel very lucky that I seem to have 19 fertile eggs! :)

I am eventually getting a female cal king to go with my male! Those should be exciting too!

19 eggs! That's great! Last year was the first year this snake was bred and she only laid 8 eggs. I only expected a few more than that this year, but she really surprised me.

Here is a link to my cal kings...mom, dad, and baby.

The Desert Phase is REALLY nice! I am partial to those...I love stark black and white kings....

the baby is VERY cool two! Two great traits one from each parent! How cool.

Thanks...

She is amazing...
She is only around 17 months old, and she is getting HUGE! That's the only reason I went ahead and put her with my male. I'll try to get some exact measurements on her, but she is almost as big as a couple of my adult (4-6 yr old) corns. It's hard to believe she isn't even 2 years old, yet. She always wants to eat, and then she grows SO quickly. I have heard that cal kings, or kings in general, are very good eaters and that they rarely turn down a meal. I have noticed this to be true with my kings. Even the baby started eating right away!

Good luck finding a female cal king. Are they easy to find in Canada?

Well they aren't terribly easy to find, but totally possible. Just not nearly as common as in the states. And I am waiting until I find that certain "someone" and I can't finish my own personal debate between albino and regular....I really love abberants but those are a bit harder to find up here....but again not impossible! :)

I totally agree about feeding them. My cal king refused meals for two months this year for the first time ever....but he was really wanting a lady...lol...but other than that he is a maniac when it comes to food.

They are so beautiful though....

Abberants...

I really love them, too! They are SO pretty. I've been thinking about getting a pair of them. It will probably have to wait until next season, but I'm gonna have to get a pair.

Well, good luck! I hope you find that certain "someone" ;)

i have a male chocolate cal king....

i did had a pair of albinos but they were far too agressive, not to mention the fact they deficate all over you,and dont hesitate to bite. yeah, there good eaters, but also canibals.

All kingsnakes are cannibils! They LOVE eating other snakes, even other kings :D

I like the chocolate browns, if they are dark ones. I prefer dark dark chocolate browns, or the stark black and whites.

And yeah snakes that crap and musk quickly become annoying little buggers.

bmm

My albino used to musk and poop on me, but he no longer does that. He rattles his tail, but he has NEVER tried to bite.

Oh yeah - I've been told that kings will usually only eat other snakes when they are small. They are less likely to be canniballistic (sp?) when they are adults. I don't know how accurate this is, though.

I like the chocolate ones, too. I eventually hope to add a couple to my collection as well.

I would think they may be less likely to eat other kings after they are larger...but I know for a fact in California the large adult kings do a number on the rattlers.
