Last evening was the most interesting to date with Pinocchio.
She must have really been hungry, cause she latched on to my thumb!
Well, forsaking science I pulled her off before I could find out what damage those little fangs could do. :laugh01:

Ain't she sweet

Aww ain't she sweet! After Hogweina left, she begame the epitomy of evil... you just have to look at her to start going crazy.

Yeah, that's one snake I wouldn't be casually letting munch while I took pictures. She looks great, Mike! I sure liked seeing Katie's little girl, too. Hey, you're not going to tell your daughter about that, are you, since "hoggies don't bite?"

Quick question. My MBK has bit defensively a few times when I first got him. He even wrenched around trying to dig his teeth in but was pretty easy to ignore. Question is if it is a snake like a hog that you don't want to just ignore til they give up, what is best way to remove them quickly? What don't you want to do to avoid hurting snake?

Run it under cold water. I've heard, for huge snakes, alcohol will make them let go. Alcohol is poison, though- you wouldn't want to pour that on a little snake- it'd have to be when you were in fear for your life.

(However, where humans are concerned, I just read in the New York Times this morning that while alcohol doesn't cure a cold, people who drink 8-10 glasses of wine a week, especially red wine, as 60% less likely to catch a cold!)

I have also heard from another breeder who works a lot with boids that Windex will get them to let go quickly and does not harm them. I have never tried it personally though. The only one I had bite and not want to let go I ran under tab water and she let go immediately.

From a show that I have seen of animal attacks. they talked with a zoo keeper that was attacked by a huge Burm or retic, I don't remember at this time. He struggled to get out of the cage and to the back hall way. He turned on the hot water and the snake let go.
I have been grabbed by my female rosy and I turned on the water to cool and let it get hot. She let go before it got to hot. This method has worked on our kings when my SO has been bitten by them.
But typically most of my snakes just let go after a few seconds.

And if they drink 8-10 an evening 100% of people, don't care if they catch a cold:rofl:
MIKE

Ohhh She's So Sweet and Innocent!!!!

Mine hiss, spit, rattle... but have yet to bite me. Course I get out of her way when she does this....
