Coming home tomorrow afternoon, a new snake... that '05 jungle corn I've been eying for months in the local herp store. I have a 20 long all ready to go for him. :) :dancer:

Merry Christmas! Isn't it a _little_ enjoyable to buy yourself the present you want? Trust me, it only gets better. Now what are you planning for a Valentine's Day Snake??

Can't wait to see pics!

Well, despite jungles' inherent hybrid evilness, I look forward to seeing him. ;)

Oh, come now Dean... evil is far too harsh a word!!!

And Nanci... yes, it feels good... I thought the chinchilla was my christmas present to me. I guess I have been very good this year. Oh... wait... perhaps that was my birthday present to me... hmm....

You could name him Evel in memory of Evel Knievel.

Do you know I've no idea who that guy is? I think he was doing most of his stunts in the late 70's, early 80's when I wasn't born yet or was very small. I had heard of his name, of course, but never seen a pic or looked into him much.

I will post pics tomorrow. He's very, very pretty, but looks like he is getting ready to shed soon- his underside is very cloudy. Color pattern is overall tan/orange with red saddles surrounded by thick black bands. Has a very narrow neck, much skinnier than most corns I have seen- perhaps this comes from the kingsnake side of him?

No, I would say kingsnakes are no-neck tiny-ass head snakes.

Ah, so it's not just me. ;-) The lady at the store is quite fond of him and said that he is terrified of all manner of live mice, so I'll "have" to feed him F/T. Oh darn.

Oooh! Oooh! I can't wait for pics! He sounds like a gorgeous jungle with Okeetee influence maybe. He may not be Cali king, either. I can't wait to see him!

OH MY, boy do I feel old :eek1:

Congrats, can't wait to see pics.

I may be wrong about this... but I believe when I first expressed interest in him back in October, the lady said he was a cross between a corn and a "Theryi" king?? I know I probably have the spelling on that wrong, but it was something with a T in the beginning... it was definitely not a Cal King.

The woman who bought him from the store had apparently quite a sizeable collection of snakes, and she kept him from 2/06 until 12/06 and then brought her whole collection in and traded it for an aquarium set. So he's been in that shop since 12/06, and his price has been dropping... dropping... dropping as he stayed. I got him for $115, and assembled his cage for $60 even. ;) I felt bad for him when I heard his story... I cannot imagine trading in any of my critters for something new... they are far too important to me. And to trade him to a store, where he then languished in a clean but small 5 gallon tank... ugh....
