It should have a probe which you want to put on the hot side, and it should have a place where you can set the temp. If you put the probe on the heat and set the temp to 85, the probe will sense when that temp is reached and send the signal to shut it.

Well mine is not a helix, I have a ronco and alife. But they both have a probe it is hard to describe what it looks like, It's like a cord that has a cylinder at the end. Look for a wire or cable or something that doesn't have a plug at the end.

no prob, glad I helped... I have to set my alife to like 95 to get the actual tubs to 85 because the heat tape is in back, so be sure you double check with a thermometer.
