Pongo, with his giant teeth

(sorry guys ... I don't like feeding pictures either, but getting a shot of his teeth meant photographing while he was eating, or getting him to bite me!)

good call, good call !! Those are some vicious teeth, yikes!

I like feeding shots! Pongo's got wicked teeth, no wonder you didn't want to get bitten, that'd smart!

Thanks guys :) I was really pleased with how the photo turned out.

Sadly, he's not really "mine" - he was bred and is owned by Bob Simpson, a breeder up right in the North of Scotland, but he's been kind enough to let Pongo live here to let us experience owning this amazing species.

He's an amazon basin emerald tree boa, in case anyone was wondering. Long name for a little snake. I just can't wait until he turns green!

Oooooh...

How are you liking him? I really want one.

Then again... I can imagine what those teeth feel like! :sidestep:

Well, I find him fascinating - I don't keep any other arboreal snakes, so he is completely unique to me. He is actually pretty handlable during the day, but during the night he's a different beast altogether.

He is amazing to watch, and to handle he is just hugely muscled, for such a small snake. He can hang just by his tail, if that gives you an idea on strength. Although I try to handle him, in reality, he tends to handle me - once he's got a grip, you're not going anywhere until he says it's okay!

If you're not too terrified of being bitten, I'd say go for it. You might want to wait until I am bitten (it's almost inevitable...), I'll post some piccies and you can see if you can handle the blood :)

:laugh01: Thanks!

Is there any way we could speed up the process? Maybe you could stick your hand in there at night? :sidestep:

If at all possible, I prefer to keep my blood in my insides  But you'll be the first to know if I mess up!

The title of this is now incorrect - it should be what's red and yellow and orange and green and white and scary?

Middle of February...

Thanks Mike - I really love him, he's just so different to everything else I own, and such a sweetheart. He'll be fun when he's eight foot long and bright green :)

Bob's website is www.sitonasticksnake.com if you want a look at his animals ...

Awesome animal and photography there! Its so cool that your getting progression pics on his colour change, i'd love to see him as a green monster too :)
