Decor...

I'm running to a craft store tomorrow to grab some terra cotta pots for the fisky tank.

I really like some of the fake plants that they have and was thinking for sticking a few in my viv.

Do I need clean them at all? I was just thinking of running them under hot water to get any dust off.

I usually give anything new a wash before I put it in the viv, especially if it isn't sealed and has just been sitting on a shelf in the store. It can't hurt. :)

Warm water, mild bleach solution, then a good wash should do it. I actually have fake plants from the craft store in some of my vivs (much cheaper than similar ones from the petstore). If the mood strikes you, pick up a few dowel rods and a hot glue gun and you can make some very cool and realistic looking perches.

I can show pictures too, if you want 'em.

Pictures would be great. I'm going to find some cool stuff today for Ziggy's tank. I'm waiting to put it in though because he is being fed tomorrow.

I haven't handled him for about two weekd or longer just to minimize stress as much as possible, that little regurger

Ahh patience is a virtue Shorty, you'll be able to play with the little guy soon enough and then you'll be happy you waited.

Fake plants is the next step for chatauex chompy. His single vine just doesnt cut the mustard (Even though he loves climbing on it!.)

I'm proud of myself for being this patient actually :) I'm just doing what's best for him. I'm making a rheostat for him today, though. So that might require taking him out to adjust the temps.

Ziggy's house is going to look so good MTV Cribs will want to look at it (I hate that show) I'll talk pictures when it's done.

I'm waiting to go all out until I have mine in his adult tank. A 30g will give me a lot of room to play with so I can make it look all nice and pretty. Depending on the apt we get he might be right above the TV so I can watch both at once. Though I would need a step ladder if I put him up there.... I hate being short.

Oh hun don't even talk to me about being short. I am 5 foot nothing! LoL

That is a good idea, waiting to go all out on decor until getting a bigger tank when they grow, I think I'll do that.

I'm putting my rheostat together!

You can also paint the dowel if you seal it and let it cure until it doesn't smell.

That looks really nice. I'm going to wait till Ziggy grows some, then go for the gold on his decor.

I finished my rheostat! Now I don't have to use an UTH and a heat lamp!
Should I wait until a few days after he eats to fiddle, or should I disturb him tnight to ensure his temps are perfect?

Just curious,
Wouldn't placing the viv on top or over the TV cause some heating problems? I would think you would need a thermometer not a rheostat as the heat would really fluctuate from TV on TV off? I would really think keeping the cold side cool would be the biggest problem?
Any expert advice?
