I Must Have Been Good! Photos Now Included

Go Ahead, Make My Day!
I forget exactly which day it was last week (I think it was Thursday - my very stressful ordering day), but one of the gentleman that pick up for the pet crematory next door to work asked around for someone that would like a king snake that he was hoping to find a new home for (he's into ball pythons and boas now). The other girls knew I liked snakes, so they immediately sent him to me. I didn't have time then to get any details, just said that I would take it if it needed a new home.

Well, he came back in today, asked if I still wanted it. Naturally I said yes and he said he would be back in 10 minutes with the snake. I asked what kind it was and he replied that it was an albino and didn't know what sex. I had originally guessed that it was probably a Cali king so was pretty thrilled that it was an albino and would make a nice addition no matter what sex it was.

About 10 minutes later, he was back with the snake in a cricket box. I peeked in through the wire side and noticed that it was indeed a light colored snake but it just didn't look right for an albino Cali king. I had to open the box to verify that I indeed see what I thought I saw. After carefully removing the tape (didn't want to mess up the box as I had nothing else to bring a large snake home in) I pulled out a gorgeous lavender albino Florida king! :dancer: I got a little musked due to the snake being a tad stressed, but otherwise, the snake was puppy-dog tame and well taken care of. I took a look at the tail/vent shape and if this isn't a male, I'll eat a pair of hubby's socks!

I took some quick inddor photos when I got home this evening, but I haven't been able to download them as hubby went on the main computer as soon as he got home, which was about 2 minutes after I got this guy set up in his new home (which as luck would also have it, I had just purchased a Sterlite for the kids to put their Legos in so I could have the better one back for a snake). In keeping with the Russian theme for the names of my Florida kings, this big fellow (weighed in at 788 grams) will now be known as Nikolai. I'll post the photos as soon as I can.

I got a chance on the main computer so have added the photos in a reply. I even took 2 views of the tail/vent to get other opinions on the sex of this snake. If I can avoid probing, I will. I'm not sure I can even find my probe set!

Congrats! Thats a very nice surprise! Tell me your secret for being good - please please! I can't wait to see pictures!

Wow what a cool surprise :D

Cant wait to see the pictures!!

hmm, now only if someone came to me with an unwanted corn island boa....
if you were good, I would have to be a saint for that!! hahah

Here are the photos!

It's amazing what you see in a photo that you didn't see when looking in real life. These photos caught some small scars and a possible one on the right eye. I'll have to see what happens after Nikolai has his first shed for me. And I included some ventral for Dean.

Nice pickup, Susan. He would be a great partner for Daisy, my lav-albino FL girl. They're even similar in size (which would be essential, since my girl's an eager snake eater).

Beautiful pics...

I live in Florida and have never seen that snake before, shame on me lol...

Susan, that was luck if I've ever heard of it lol. What a beautiful gift. I would love to have someone give me something like that. I wouldn't know what to say. Wow, what a gorgeous snake. Very unique tummy. I've never seen that pattern before.

Please post more pics, I can't get enough lol...

Lil. :)

Thanks for sharing :)
