Heating issues!

Hello i just got a new corn snake and i already made a new thread about him shedding and someone gave me advice and it worked! But my next question is i have a heating pad under the tank and a thermomitor and inch above the ground on the warm side and it says its about 75 is this good temp for the warm side? My snake has been staying on the cold side so i was getting worried the warm side was either to hot or not hot enough?

Hi, Matt. You need to know the temperature under the substrate right on top of the heating pad. Basically, you need to know the hottest temperature your snake can get to and adjust it to a safe temp.
As far as where the snake stays, that's up to the snake. If you supply the right temperatures and hides at different temps, your snake will use them to regulate itself.
My snake likes it relatively cool, she only goes to the warm hide to digest her food or if the kitchen temp gets a few degrees cooler.

Also, while shooting for low to mid 80's the accurate way is *not* with a stick on thermometer, and since your thermometer is an inch above the substrate I'm guessing that's what kind you have.
