False Advertising of Sphagnum

Delightedly

Snarky Sneaky Snakey
So, i spend too much money (as a college student) on sphagnum moss for future wet-hides, and bring everything home, all excited. In my cheery state I show everything to my dad....

My leading Ohio bryologist dad...

Who gave me a look like I had shamed the family, started laughing, and explained that what I was holding was Not sphagnum and was something (with a long complicated name that i'll list tomorrow once he wakes up and I see him after work.)

The stuff I bought was the repti-sun sphagnum moss.

:shrugs: I wonder if there's a difference in its usability.

It should work fine though it might go bad faster then true spagnum. The best place I have found good spagnum is lowes in the flower section with the orchid bark, nice and clean and cheap:)

That's where i'll be getting it next time. I'm so irked about it this time though. But it workd, so i guess that's all that matters.

you can get sphagnum moss in lowes! sweet.. i almost bought a brazilian rainbow boa yesterday and the guy recommended sphagnum. since the humidity is so high for them. ill definitely keep that in mind when i do get one.
