I'm in love

I've had my first snake (ghost corn) for a full week now and I'm soooo in love with him/her. She's very curious and outgoing, loves to be held. She's so much more active in her viv than I expected. She comes out every afternoon and all evening/night. She quickly learned that she enjoys being held and now will come to the front of her viv and stare at me when she wants out. I reach in and she comes right up to my hand. She had her first feed and did so well! Took a f/t pinkie like a pro and about 50 hours later, she was ready to be held again.

If this is how corn snakes typically act, I want a bunch, or at least 2 more! lol She's great and even my fiance likes her and he's snake-phobic.

Every corn is different, but I love them all! Some are mellow and sweet from day 1, some babies are nervous and whippy and try to get away and one of mine (Syko) was THE nastiest baby I had ever seen! I would only walk into the room and he would strike and hit his face against the cage trying to get me!! He has calmed down and is NOW one of my sweetest darlings!

Most adults are mellow and wonderful though, it's those "hatelings" ya need to watch out for!

YOU have the BUG

Congrats on your new snake...I predict that you will eventually end up owning more snakes than you ever intended to...and that's a good thing...You've obviously been bitten by the bug, anyone else here see the symptoms???:):):)

I have 11 ( acquired in less than a year)and I was supposed to get 3 more today, but the blizzard here in Ohio has cancelled those plans til later:uhoh:

You can never stop at one corn...it just doesn't work that way...

And don't bother looking for a 12-step program...they don't work. Every step requires the purchase of another snake...;)

Welcome to the addiction!!
I've gone from 2 to 26 in 6 months!!
and it is FANTASTIC!

I'm coming up on a month pretty soon of having my first snake, and I've gotta say I'm very pleased with my decision to get a corn. They're fantastic pets, and my snake in particular has pretty much taken over my life. I can't wait to get more.

Welcome the the addiction. As of today I am at 8 snakes in 4 months. You might as well start saving up for a rack now.
