I've been looking through corn snake pictures, and I keep noticing that some have triangle shaped heads. Is this just a characteristic of them when they are young?

That makes sense, as all of the photos I have seen have been of snakes with their head pulled back in the striking position. I feel stupid now...
 
Here's my rattlesnake, Ruby. I got her out to feed her last night, and for a second on the way to the scale she forgot she was a rattlesnake and was crawling around my hand like a cornsnake. As soon as I set her in the collander, though, it all came back to her. She strikes SO HARD at me that a little hiss comes out of her each time! Even though I know it doesn't hurt, I take a moment before picking her up. I don't have to worry about her running away, she's always coiled and waiting for me to make my next move. She's up to 11 grams now!

The little RO in pics I posted is mine...I have pics of him coming out the egg with his head all triangular. We call him Psycho Sirius. hehehe He's actually very sweet once you've picked him up though...

Whenever I enter my snake room I am heralded by rattles from his tub! lol
 
She's gorgeous Nanci! Sirius often hisses when he strikes at me too! hehehe Its adorable! lol

This little crimson from VMS Herps has the most "attitude" of all my guys (with Starsevol's Warrick a close second). I was trying to get a picture of her striking, but she's too fast for me. :)

Ha ha, great pictures everyone!

Salazar was never a 'hateling', and looking back, I'm glad that he wasn't. He was my first snake (I had handled others elsewhere, but when you have experienced people around it's different), and if he was a hateling I might have been to nervous to bond with him. He struck at me twice, and hit once, lol. He did do the little hiss/sneeze thing when he struck, which was amazingly cute. :grin01:

Now that I've got a little more experience and confidence with snakes, I'd love to have a 'hateling', they're so cute!
