Yeah I know... What The Heck?
A lady co-worker brought this in to me today,
her son found it in their yard (lives near Desert Hot Springs, Ca)

I had to do a search to find it, since I had never seen one before.
When I found it I had never heard of it..??.. LOL

So here it is......

What an interesting snake! Are you going to keep him, or will you eventually set him free?
Good luck with him!

Thanks for the comments everyone. It is a cute little thing
and at about a foot long close to full grown.

what do those little guys eat?? Type of set up required??

Eats invertebrates: insects, scorpions, spiders, centipedes, larval insects and moths
Not sure of a set up, I've got it in a shoebox tub w/aspen at the moment.

Thanks Becks, I'm going to try my luck getting it to feed,
I'm not sure what I'll eventually do with it?

I saw a Shovelnose for sale in a local pet store up here in Oregon.. Hrmm, wonder where they imported that from..?

I believe the bedding they used was some type of terrarium sand. I just remember seeing it burrowing up against the sides of the glass, looked pretty sad being held in captivity.. :poke: Not too sure what they were feeding it. Although, they do carry some small insects and other various types of invertebrates. :shrugs:

I hope you have good luck with the lil' guy, he's awfully cute!

Thanks, I'm going to try to feed it today. We'll see:shrugs:

hey - thats a nice looking snake -
How did the feeding go? and what did you feed it?

Would it be fair to assume that the setup would be the same as other snakes found in the same habitat?
