Shedding???

Ive had my normal corn for about 2 months now, but the thing that bugs me is that he went into shed like 4 weeks ago and I noticed last night that he`s starting to go into shed again!!!Now I know that blistering causes excessive shedding but hes really in good condition with no signs of blistering, the only conclusion I can come to is that his previous owner neglected to feed him often enough, and he`s infact only catching up on a few lost meals and this increased his growth rate???
He`s roughly around a year old, maybe a touch older
Would I be correct in assuming that this is the cause????:shrugs:

Corns that age usually shed every 4-6weeks if eating correctly (sometimes longer) so I am sure that you are correct in your assumptions!!

He's most likely around a year old now as it is hatching season in Jan/Feb usually.

Mine usually go through a "growth spurt" around 1yr old as wel...lol

how often do you feed and what size food in relation to the corn?

fully grown mice with a head about tha same size as the corns

and how often?

I feed them once a week, but I must add that if his last meal was slightly smaller than usual I might feed him again about five days later.
What are your thoughts?:shrugs:

Martin - As Velvet said, they do 'spurt' from time to time, and my single experience with an adult that was "emaciated" as the vet described him when I purchased him shed THREE times in six weeks as he recovered from the RI he came home with. Granted, I was poking him with a needle every three days so his "gotta shed to repair the damage" might have played a part, but he's been packing on the grams since then. He's gained over 100g from his low point when he was sick. At first during his recovery, he had one adult mouse every 5 days, then as he began to fill out, I moved that out to 6 days, and now since he hit 450g it's been 7 days. I'll leave it at that until he starts to look plump.

When I checked Max this morning hes eyes had blued completly, so I reckon theyll clear by tomorrow and the shed should happen over the weekend!

feeding every 5-7 is about the norm for corns. Some of us follow the "Munson Plan" which you can find using the forums Search feature. but once every 5-7 should be just fine.
