View Full Version : Red Bullsnakes....
Red Bullsnakes....
I figured I should post some images of various red bullsnakes over the next few months. This isn't going to be a progression thread (although I might show multiple images of the same snake over time), but just a way to show off some of the diversity we have in our extensive red bullsnake collection.
Hope you like them even a little bit as much as I do!
KJ
Here is an image of a young red bullsnake (improved crumbly line). She's less that 2 years old, so she should continue to get more and more red with age for at least another year. Surprisingly, she was one of the worst looking babies in the clutch. She was only held on to because she didn't sell. Darn, but I wish all of the ones that look good as babies turned out this nice.....lol. Pure, surprising, luck on this girl!
This is out of my bloodline, but it is part of a combined breeding project with Don Soderberg. He actually owns this one - I just took her to breed to a sibling "Tiger" red bullsnake in 2009!

I _would_ say that's the most beautiful bullsnake in the world, but I've seen that snow you sold...That was an incredible snake!

KJ is way too modest but his red bulls are MINDBLOWING. I was with him and Don Soderberg LAST year at the Dallas NARBC show...Nigel Marvin (the TV guy from animal planet) was asking KJ's advice on bulls...he was so impressed with the red bulls that he asked to get onto KJ's waiting list a year ahead of time... Those red tiger bulls are freakin' sweet. His bloodlines are JUST AS BRIGHT in person. I owned red bulls in the past but was never impressed with the orange/rust colors... I got on his list LAST YEAR for 2009/2010 animals... They just take your breath away...

Thanks! We've put many years and lots of cage space into selecting on these animals, so I do appreciate your kind words!

You are still mad that I wouldn't sell you the below girl, aren't you? LOL. thx, Graham.
For everyone else, that ones of out "high blotch count" reds. She's only 6 months old, so we can only imagine how red she will be as an adult. As an adult, she should be as red as the ones posted on our website - and more red than the subadult posted above. I suspect she's going to become one of our main breeders over the next 4 years or so. The intensity is right for this young girl, but she is actually more RED than orange. Brighter red than the photo shows, too....but the intensity is about right. Considering just 2 generations ago, these red bulls usually didn't even begin to start turning red until 8-10 months of age, I think we've certainly improved upon this line. :)
One of these days, I need to post the image of the best girl (Tiff-1), eh, Graham? We'd have people adjusting their monitors! LOL.

What the heck do you do with an ugly bullsnake that only lays 13 fertile eggs in her double clutch? Man, that's barely better than a sharp stick in the eye, eh? LOL.

Thanks to both.
Yeah, that girl earned her keep. I don't remember (without going check) the size of the first clutch, but it was a little larger. One of her sisters dropped 15 eggs, and they weight 940 grams total. After laying, the mom weighed 1003 grams. Can you say OUCH!
