Just wanting to check and make sure the the repitile bark is ok and safe for cornsnakes and wondering if a 45gal tank might be to big for a yearling or adult.
Thanks

Repti-bark should be fine as long as you dont feed on it :) 45 gallon is pretty big... I think if you have lots of hides, fake vines, 2 water bowls... things like that, it should be fine :) If by chance it stops eating or something like that then you may wish to divide it into 2 so it wont be so 'scarey'. :)

Thanks alot. I found a lady selling a 45 gal for $45 dollors with alot of reptile sruff included. If anything i can split it and then it give me an excuss to get another to fill the other side lol:crazy02:

LOL Now your thinking!! LOL Just make sure that the lid is secure :) Sounds like a great deal and its one I would go for myself hehe Good luck and look forward to pics :)

Thought i might post an update. The tank turned out to be a 35 not a 45. It used to have a gecko in it which sadely passed away. there was alot of sand and dead bugs and poop and stuff took 2 hours just to get it cleaned. I found astro turf underneath ingreat shape cleaned, soaked and rinse everything really well. I am still waiting for the lid to finish drying i had to make a new snake proof lid for it but all in all it was still a good deal. The bark chips and are the only thing that didnt come with it. I hope to have him in his new home tonight. Oh and the heat pad that came with it works. I couldnt beleive how big it was so i had to put my pug in it to show the size lol. I should have done a before and after pic but wasnt thinking about it at the time.

You really scored on that viv! I have been looking and looking for a deal like that. Finally gave up and decided to make one myself out of acrylic. Just got the sheets of acrylic. It will be next weekends project.

Thanks the dogs name is Buddha. I had given up too and was going to build one and it was turning out to be a little more than i thought it would be. so i got on craigslist and looked around and found this. i had to spend about $20 extra to make a new lide for it but the tank is perfect. I trying to figure out how to get all the cords and stuff to run through it but is almost ready for my snake Hema.

Quick question though about the reptile bark.
Did you just reuse what was already in there? Or is it "fresh" from the bag?
If you're just reusing the same bark I suggest you wrap it in some tin foil and bake it in the oven, because after you describing the state of the bugs and feces, that repti bark would NOT be clean or healthy for your snake.

i think he stated in his last post that the bark was the only thing that didnt come with the tank....

nice find by the way

The repi bark is fresh only a couple days old and straight out of the bag. I made sure that everything that was in the cage got soaked and cleaned really good before i put him and he spent the whole night in it last night he didnt escape which means i did a good job on fixing the lid and he seems do be doing ok in it.
