I have a free website builder-thingy but its designed like an online store. An online store is fine, but its not the greatest when I want to show things that are NOT for sale! All I want to do is build a site that shows my animals, my breeding plans and offspring for sale. You know, like alot of you have! Something that can be updated easily. Any ideas? Are there any free formats that can suit the needs of us cornsnake breeders?
Please pm me if you want to see what I'm working with now. I will give you the address in pm so as to not break the rules of the forum. I just started working on it yesterday, but I don't think it will be suitable for my needs. Constructive critisism wanted.

Well, I'm not too sure how to help.

If you want an easy album, build one with flickr or photobucket and link it off your web site. If you want something you can design yourself, get a photobucket account, upload your photos, use the html tag it gives you and remote link from your website (that's what I do). The other option is just to upload photos to your website itself (I don't do this because my site is hosted for free by a friend, and I don't want to use more space than I have to on his server).

I don't use those web page builders, they are kind of limiting. I just write html as a text document and upload the .html files, it's a fairly easy code and there are lots of pages out there to help you learn. Once you understand how tables work, that's half the battle right there.

I'd like to see what you've got.....

My freewebs one was very easy to do... I am not good at all with computers, I am horribly impatient with coding and html and would much rather be outside running a chainsaw than trying to figure out computery stuff - it makes my head ache. But freewebs was real easy, for me it was probably harder to figure out how to put the banner and link in my signature than it was to do the whole site :)

Here is some software that is really easy to use. No coding...just drag and drop. Updating will be a pain in the rear, as in, there are more steps to update something than it would be with a database managed site.....but you don't need to know anything to do it.

Beth, it depends what you want from your website. If you want a professional looking website, I would steer clear of any free based system, ie freewebs, etc. There's just something about going to someone's sight that's got a www.freewebs.snakes.com. I don't know about you, but I don't want freewebs before my 'biz name'. There are plenty of people on here that can help you out with your website. Tim's wife, Mrsinsaneone on this forum, has done mine over a few times.

I have webspace available, and need something that can be updated very easily. I have the name of the site (starsevolsnakes) registered and have tons of mbs of uploadable space. I need the tools, and I need to grow a brain!

Joe and Jen, I like both your sites and want something like that!

Thanks! You can upgrade the freewebs ones to a paid site and get rid of the 'unprofessional' freewebs part of the name, this is something I will probably do in the future but right now I need my money for other things like bills ;)

Kick my Jenn an email.. She might be willing to work something out, at a reasonable cost, especially since you are already sitting on a domain name and space..

Regards.. Tim of T and J
