When Robots Attack!

So I've been having poor DSL reception all week. My laptop is in my bedroom 80 feet from the computer room where the router is. But usually I get very good reception. I couldn't figure out why it was suddenly so poor.

This morning, my DSL had to be reset- just the thing where you turn the whole modem/router power strip off and on. So I crawl under the desk, and there is the router, modem, IR for the wireless keyboard, and a speaker all dangling down in a big tangle behind the desk!

So remember when I got the new laptop, and I was trying everything to get the files from the old laptop to the new laptop, and couldn't get everyone all on the same network. I'd unplugged an unused PC network cable and plugged the new laptop into that, but it was no use. Fine.

I have this small army of Roombas that vacuum my house all by themselves on schedules. Four of them. Sometimes I get home from work and one hasn't made it back to its home base, so I have to search for it. Last week, I found Nola in the computer room, choking on the loose network cable. (You have to be careful to not let the older generation of robots get into wires- they don't know to stop trying to eat them). I unwound the cable, hung it over a chair, and didn't think a thing of it. Apparently she pulled all the other stuff off the back of the desk!

I just thought that was kind of funny. And now I have a great DSL signal again.

Lmao, that's awesome! I didn't know you could get robots to do your cleaning for you!

Good story, that gave me a few laughs, I can just imagine the old robot repeatedly chomping on the wire. If you got a picture of that, it'd make a great 'lolrobot' :grin01:

All the best

David

Haha thats great Nanci!.

What are the Roombas like for picking up dog fur? Could be handy to get one for the living room and have it buzz around the room once a night while we're all tucked up in bed - That way i only have to physically hoover once a week and my carpet doesn't start to look like another pet!

I don't know how they are, personally, for dog hair. Should be great, though! Mine just have to pick up pigeon feathers, people hair and snake aspen. I just cleaned them today- where does all that dust come from??? Seems like I'd be up to my ankles in it in no time if they didn't vacuum every day...
