Today I had found a great find at a pet shop. There was a Banana Blizzard Leopard Gecko on sale for 89.99! Thats pretty cheap around here (They also had APTOR for 224$, and RAPTOR for 332$, I had an extra tank and heat pad at my house so I went for the impulse buy. I checked her (definitly her) out, and she seemed perfectly fine, fat tail, all toes, good belly. Id assume shes a sub adult maybe as her body isnt as thick or long as my adult females. Anyways she was very very sleepy and her eyes strangely were closed. Anyways this is were I had started to worry...

Shes in her new Tank, and kind of walking around with her eyes closed occasionaly opening them. Anyways I tried to feed her crickets.. but nothing, just let them walk right by her! Im really getting nervous now, Shes a good 32 grams and youll definitly see for her size she isnt underweight. So I took heil nathese pics and put her back into her enclosure then I closed the light. All of the sudden a cricket walks by her and she nailed it! Shes hunting right now, alert and eyes wide open. Its as if she was too sensitive to the light, I find this so strange as my other two adults are always out and about doing whatever whenever. I heard a rumour somewhere that blizzards had weaker genetics, But I didnt think they were light-sensitive! Then again maybe its just moving into a new place and such, or maybe they didnt have her conditions right in the shop, she seems to have just adjusted within minutes! Anyways here she is:

So there she is! Currently living in a 20 gal, paper towel substrate, two norm hides on each side, a humid hide, coke cap of calcium, and a small water dish...Another thing I cant help but notice that there seems there might beomething weird with her mouth as you may see in some of the pics I hope its nothing though..Another side not is that her yellow colouring on the sides didnt show up at all in these pics.

Thanks Monger. Leopard Geckos really are the Corn Snakes of the Gecko World! Anyways she just ate 4 nice sized super worms so she seems to be adjusted and eating well! Anyone wanna help me with names? :p

I think, like snakes, lizards need a period of acclimation and settling in before feeding. She's so pretty!

Paul I think you may actually have a Blazing Blizzard there :shrugs: not a Banana Blizzard.

A Banana Blizzard is Blizzard + Patternless.
A Blazing Blizzard is Blizzard + Albino.

So if you have a Blazing Blizzard, which is what she looks like to me, (I have a pair here) that would explain the sensitivity to light, as she's Albino :)

Hope that helps, best wishes,

Susie, I do indeed have a Blazing Bliz!! I went earlier today on a leo forum and they confirmed it I was pretty excited and happy when I found out :), But this ones eyes dont appear to red at all?

Blazing Blizzards or any Albino Leopard geckos eyes are not red. They can have pinkish to tanish irises, with black pupils, but are still sensitive to light :)

Blazing Blizzards also keep their nice bright white colour, unlike Blizzards who turn grey when cool or stressed. I prefer Blazings over regular Blizzards but I do have both here.

Hope that helps, :)

I didnt mean blood red lol, but in comparison to my tremper and the pictures of blazing blizzards ive seen they didnt look red or tan enough, but either way Im glad i definitly got more than I paid for a nice healthy Blazing Blizzard for 89$! :D Some people were even telling me it may be a rain water/ las vegas blazing, nbut Im doubtful to that one!

I'll see if I can get some pics of mine in the next couple of days and I'll post them for you :) I've seen quite a bit of variation in their eye colour and I think it depends on which strain of Albino they come from, as to how light/dark the iris colour is.

I'm glad your pleased with her, as she is a little beauty!

PS, I've PM'd you too :)
