Thermostat or UTH Trouble?

I noticed last night that Lila's warm side was reading 91F. Ok, I thought, maybe the setting on the thermostat got jostled when I got the new fridge Saturday, which required a couple moves of the cupboard Lila lives on. It's the only non-Herpstat I still have, a BAH 1000, which up till now has been reliable. I turned it down and waited for the temp to fall to 85, then turned it back up to where it came on, then just a titch back down. This morning, I had a temp of 88F, with a high of 90. The high-lows had a huge range- 84 for the low, 90 for the high. I turned it down again, and left for work.

I guess I could test the mat with another thermostat, except the probes are all glued down in the vivs they are controlling.

Does anyone think it's more likely the stat is failing, or the mat? Up till now, that stat has always held the temp steadily, even though it's an off/on type. Like one degree of swing, not six or more.

That's something only a test can answer.

Both have very basic components and even the outlet they are plugged into could be going bad.

I used to work in In-Home PC repair prior to changing to IT - Network Tech and I can't tell you how many bad wall outlets I have seen. Some of the worst having readings of 25+-, 40+-, 65+- when if everything is good should be around 110,110,0 for pos lead, neg lead, ground. And trust me many a home PC warranty have been terminated do to bad home power issues.

I'd test both items and if you still can't find it might be worth picking up a volt meter and testing the outlet or having an electrician test the outlet.

Hopefully it is something simple like a loose connection!

If you need a how-to for testing the outlet with the meter just shout.

I somehow managed to test my fence charger- but I may need help! I'll let you know.
