Whats the ideal size viv for an adult corn snake?
and what Should the over-all temp in the vivarium be?

Hi mate, welcome to the forums.

The minimum size tank is a 20 gallon long aquarium (30" long * 12" deep * 12" tall). However, if you can go bigger, then that's better, provided you provide enough cover (artificial plants, climbing space, multiple hides etc.)

I keep my Corn in a 50 gallon (36" * 18" * 19"), with plenty of cover and he loves it.

The ambient air temperature should be between 78 - 82F ideally, but as long as you have one warm area that's between 80 - 85, and one cool area that's between 70 - 75, then it doesn't actually matter that much.

All the best

David

so say ive got an infared bulb(recomended by local shop) pointing down on one side with a thermostat on 82f will that be ok?

Yeah that should be fine. Have you got a digital thermometer to check the temps? Even though the thermostat may say 82F, it may be way out (talking from personal experience here, lol).

The only thing you have to watch is humidity at shedding times. Heat bulbs tend to suck the humidity out of areas, so make sure you give him a moist hide (plastic box with sphagnum moss with a hole cut in the side/top) and/or mist every day for the duration of the shed.
