More 'I am moving' questions...

So it looks like *hopefully* I am going to be doing the actual move in the summer. Heres so my question...

I decided to go with a cargo van to move my dogs and cats, because itll be easier to control the temp in the car then in a Uhaul where theyll have no ventilation. So the van will be air conditioned for us..........does that mean the snakes need heat packs? If so, where do I get heat packs?

What else do I need to know before moving them besides not feeding them before the move. Will tupperware suffice to transit them? Should I throw aspen in there with them? What about water? Do they need water for the trip?

The drive is 10 hours and were going to make it in one trip.

No heat packs needed, and take a jug of water just in case. Tupperware will work, well ventilated with lids taped of course. If you fill them with aspen your snakes can burrow down into it, and not bounce around...

I just recently moved across country with all four of my snakes and all of my belongings in one car. My method worked great, I placed each snake into a separate sterlite container with aspen (and air holes of course).
Each night at the hotel I took out the containers to place a water dish, and a small heater under half of each box so it would not get too cold. It worked like a charm!
My PB messed into his box on the second day and since I didn't have any aspen to replace it with, I ended up using the hotels toilet paper.

I know your move is only 10 hours, so you should be fine. Good luck!

No heat packs even tho the car will be air conditioned?

I would move them as far away from the AC as possible, like to the back of the van somewhere.

Or simply behind the seat, out of the direct hit.

No heat packs necessary. It won't get cold enough in there to harm them. Though I agree about not putting them directly in front of the AC. And I personally would put them in snake bags - pillow cases would work as well. Put a few crumpled pieces of paper towels in the bag, put the snake in, and then knot it up close to the snake at the bottom. You could then put all the snakes in a box this way with crumpled up newspaper around them for support. Sort of like when you ship snakes.

Their probably going to end up behind my seat on the floor. Im renting a Toyota Sienna so thats the middle row. My guys are all small except for the 05 snow, so they wont take up much room as far as the size of the containers. So the object is just cushion everyone as much as possible so they dont bump around?

oh! Speaking of shipping snakes....when we arrive in NC and everyone goes back into their tanks, should I give them a week to settle in before feeding again?

Not a problem!

Sounds good, my guys (and girl) recovered almost immediately and ate right away. Give them a week if they need it, but I also made sure that I didn't feed them before the trip. (2 weeks)
