This is the winter stay for the grasssnakes in Holland. They hibernate between the rocks far beneath the surface. There is no food there but they escape the freezing this way.

And this is a summer area. Here they can catch food such as frogs and toads and fish.

Great find Marcel. I would say you had a very good day, 11 snakes, good day indeed. It is still way to cold for us to find anything around here. Maybe another month or two. Great Pictures.
