It shouldn't be a problem. Vibrations or constant light from it if you watch late at night would be the only considerations. You'll just have to see how the snake does with it. If it seems to stress it, you'll have to take it out.
 
Yah, it all depends. Also, if you're using a UTH, the wood may dry out, crack, and/or be a fire hazard.
