Snakes in designer genes
New snakes ...

mynamesrick got himself a new buttmunching normal.

bekers71 finally got a butter stripe - and what a stripey stripey stripe it is.

ILoveGreen's new reverse okeetee is progressive. Interesting political position for a corn snake to take, really.

djsuby05's new snake is a cutey and a big lad.

New members ....

A bumper crop of new members this week. Make sure to introduce yourselves to them ...

tips, phelo, ohdigeydoc, sparkman, beauty, png_lovebirds, Jezebel, snoopy, 98kingm, Aremus, Blacklight, Lanky G, mushroom, timdog, and last but not least, MaddyZangles.

It's still mating season ...

Amel motley het butter stripe x butter motley sounds like a great pairing for DaGiant and Stephen.
and zeewhizgot his pastel ghost together with a Miami girl.

And it's still laying season ...

PJCReptiles will no doubt have a headache thinking about the genetics of these ghost het blizzard x ghost het blizzard eggs (save me a gho-bli-snow baby!)

Drizzt80 described his mating as a second hand snake to an old man. I wonder which snake got the best end of that deal? Better luck with that one than the clutch of slugs he got from his hypo lav pairing.

Fingers crossed that betterboa's girl is okay after her ordeal. But at least there's some fertile eggs there ...

RobStevens has three clutches of eggs this week.

I see a myriad of motleys in bekers71's future - from two clutches.

stephen's first clutch of the year and second clutch of the year are here. Don't miss these if you like ultramel projects...

I know you're all saying - but toyah, where are your egg threads? Well, all my girls are holding out on me, I feel so left out! So make sure to keep posting your eggs and pips so I can at least coo over them ...

Thread picks of the week

Your first corn snake - share some photos and stories of that first snake who paved the way for all the rest.

Useful incubation information (for extra credit say that five times, fast!)

This list of hybrid names is quite useful and interesting.

ReptileFest Chicago - WOW! What a great event. Kudos to Cegninedorf for organising the corn snake handling. Lots of great pictures too..

RIP little Monty. We're sorry for your loss Gralena. He was a beauty.

The other side of breeding ... Roy Munson shared some pictures of Bretty after her egg binding.

Photos

NFS07 took her boy Kryptonite outside. I loved this photo showing the pure strength of a corn snake - that tightly wound tail holding up everything else, and that inquisitive face.

Uhmm ... can you let go please? They're not your tweezers, they belong to Jrgh17.

Taryn7's butter is either a spying stealth snake, or she's playing whack-a-mole. Cute either way though.

SunProject's hypo bloodred boy has the coolest viv.

VinnyJ, I must demand you hand over that Terrazzo to me now ... or at least post photos on a regular basis. Keys corns FTW.

Topazfyre has co-ordinating your snake to your flowers down to a fine art. Love the blossoms, love the snake!

I just LOVED this photo of Skaaglore's. Morgain is really trying to look like a charmed cobra there, don't you think?

Zombie topic - back from the dead

Cool story, Jadie.Glitch, but I think Vedica's neonates should have hatched by now considering she posted about them back in July '02.

Cruelty of the week

Velvet, without a doubt, inflicted a horrible cruelty on the forum. Fancy telling us there's pippies and then not even letting us see!

Nanci defeats Dean

Nanci is now our all time most prolific poster on cornsnakes.com. Third place Tula_Montage still has a couple of thousand posts to make before she catches up to them!

Quotes of the week

"Once a butt muncher, always a butt muncher" is a fabulous quote in itself, but dwyn127's made me giggle with:
"Since he's lost his virginity this year he's become incorrigible."

Is there a doctor in the house? No? Never fear - MerlinsPop is here to dispense valuable medical advice. This week: how to treat a corn snake bite:
"No need to go to the hospital... just self-administer sufficient alcohol (internally, so that the wound is disinfected from the inside out, doncha know!). When you can't recall why you're medicating yourself, you've had enough."

I'm off to get bitten by a corn snake so I can follow Bruce's treatment advice ... I hope you enjoyed this WIR :)

Great WIR Toyah :) and....

I'll see what I can do about that... the photos part at least. ;)

Well I guess photos ... and some babies ... would be enough to let you keep her!

Thanks people :) It was fun to put this one together, there were a few bits that got "cut" for the final edit (custom user titles of the week was one) but I might put them in next time.

Oh and next time I'll keep a copy on my home PC too so if I'm ill I can still post on time :)

Haha oh Toya you're great! Love the quotes and the little milestones of the week.
You did a great job once again thanks!

Great WIR Toyah! We can tell you spent quite some time preparing it. Chock full of great posts, pictures and information. It is great to see that you put some quality time into your work. You will be the first to see the pippies from the Ghost het Blizzard x Ghost het Blizzard. ;) Great job! A+++++++
Jay

You will be the first to see the pippies from the Ghost het Blizzard x Ghost het Blizzard. ;)
Wha? . . . Huh!? . . . She's first? That's just not fair!! ;) I'll concede first pippies, but I wanna see first Blizzard Ghost . . . :uhoh:

Great WIR.

D80

Thanks guys :) I can't wait to see the ghost blizzards, I hope they're bright blue or something similarly unexpected.

Dean I'm sure you'll overtake Nanci again soon enough :)

But how will you know if you see one? Aren't Blizzards born white? Sooo you would expect a hint of brown, maybe?

Since both parents are ghost, the babies have to be anery+hypo. So any blizzard babies born in the clutch will necessarily be anery+hypo+amel+charcoal, not just amel+charcoal.
