Nike has passed :(

Eriathiel

Short and Sweet
Well after a couple months of struggling Nike has left this world.

She stopped eating almost three months ago - and had only taken 1 pinkie since then.
I took her to the vet, who although he didn't think she had parasites gave her meds for them just in case and checked her out - couldn't find anything wrong.
He gave her a couple other shots which were supposed to help but just didn't.
Last night a found her - she was gone.

We always feel...

We always feel as if we could have done more... not hijacking but just last tuesday my wife lost a pet cat that she had had for 8 years. We spent 2200 dollars running last minute tests and emergency vet visits. IT had breathing problems and later we found out it was diabetes and a heart condition that took him from this world. He showed no signs until a day before his passing.

Life is cruel in how it takes loved ones from us so quickly sometimes without warning and or reason. However it is these times that we look upon all the memories we have and cherish everything the pet gave to us. Some say pets are just that... pets... but pet owners are the only ones who can relate to the person feeling loss at a time like this.

You have people to confide in and if you want to talk or let out feelings we are here for you. Luckily it looks like you are well on your way to recovery. Sorry to hear of your loss.

Later.

I am so sorry you have had to go through this with a beloved pet. It NEVER gets easier no matter how many times you have experienced it. In the end, what happens will be for a reason and it's not fair to let an animal suffer because we want to hold onto them. You did the best you possibly could.

There is little solice in this, but you know that you did all you could. It is difficult to treat any creature who can't tell us what is wrong, but I think reptiles are particularly hard to find clear cut answers. You made her as comfortable as you could, and as Nanci said, her suffering is over.

Oh Izzi, I am so sorry to hear that Nike passed, I know how worried you were about her when we were talking.
She is in a better place now though at at least she's not suffering anymore.

I'm so sorry she's gone... :( but I'm sure she's watching over you in snake heaven. (If you believe in such things and if you don't think it's too creepy)

I am sorry for your loss. I want to cry. Anytime i here something pass away i cry. sniff sniff. well see ya. Sorry for what happened.

Thank you all for your thoughts - I am happy that Nike is no longer suffering either. I just wish that everyone in general knew more about reptile health.
