Mice! They taste so nice!
To walk off Pete's birthday meal and cake, we had a mini hike up the Clent hills. There's woodland and heathland (I'll be looking for adders there later in the year), saw a buzzard but didn't manage to get a picture of it because I thought it was just another rook until too late!
Apparently the distant hills are part of the Black Mountains in Wales, the Peak District and the Cotswolds. There's a topagraph that shows the direction of the distant landmarks, but we were too puffed out to visit it this time.

It's pretty there!
I love Spring, except for the fact I'm so busy working and cutting back vegetation to actually find time to get out there and enjoy it.
 
Thanks for the comments. I don't get out into the countryside every time I visit Pete, it depends on whether he's got gigs etc scheduled and what else we have to do during a short visit. Last weekend was sunshine and showers so only a little bit of hiking this time, taking advantage of a break in the weather.
The bluebells were just starting to bloom in the woods, and I may not get another chance to visit before they're over.
 
Great shots, Janine. The bluebells are definetly in - I went for a little drive in the country at the weekend and they were lining the roads. They are lovely.

Depending on what other plans we have, I try to persuade Pete to take me out to blow the cobwebs away when I visit, because he's central to such nice countryside in the Black Country. The geology and soil is so different to the chalk and flint downland around here that the balance of trees and plants is different too. I'd forgotten to take my bins with me, or I might have had a chance to spot the buzzard in time for a photo.
