Okeete info. question

CassieK

Animal Fanatic
I was wondering how much Okeetes run for. My fiancee' is showing interest in snakses :dancer: and seems to really like the dark colors and black outlines that the okeetes have. I am wondering if there are any breeders in the portland area that we might be able to check out to see if this is something that he really wants. (i hope so cause i would love to have another snake around and hopefull he gets a female so i can breed it with my ghost:crazy02:)

Thanks
Cassie

Depending on the quality of the Okeetee, they can run from $30 and up. Abbott's Okeetees are considered to be the best example of the type, although Kathy Love's Okeetee's are right up there, in my book. I would look at South Mountain Reptiles (www.cornsnakes.net), Cornutopia.com and Leesokeetees.com for some of the best. There are plenty of people breeding them, but I don't know of anyone in the Portland (Oregon?) area. I will have some later this summer, but they are project snakes and many are spoken for already.

Thanks alot the more i delv into corn snakes the more i find. Didnt know there were so many sub-variaties. He was looking at the South mountain reptiles and also showed some interest in pewters. I think we might wait and go to the reptile show in augest that way he has a wide range to choose from. Its so hard to choose just one when there are so many great looking corns out there.

Abbott bloodline Okeetee's were going for $50 last season from Lee Abbott and from Bayou Reptiles.
I don't know what other vendors were charging.

The only corn breeder I personally know in the portland area does not work with Okeetee's.

I have a few left from last year's clutch and another clutch due to hatch in early July. I might point out that these are pure locality Okeetees, not Lookatees or Okeetee types. These are actual Okeetees from the Okeetee Hunt Club. Not all have the big dark borders, but they are indeed true Okeetees.
