rack question

OK, I have a rack system that holds 10 16qt tubs with back heat on a Helix thermostat set at 82 degrees....

Problem: I've always had a problem with humidity building up inside the tubs which causes molding(bad) so I went and burned small holes for ventilation on all my tubs, thought my problem was solved.

Welll only to find out that the top right tub STILL has the problem, ONLY the top right. I thought maybe it was just that tub...maybe I didn't get the holes right on that tub, so I put another tub in it's spot, and now it's doing the same thing!!! I'm really at a loss here, don't have a clue as to why this is happening. I keep all the water bowls as far from the back as possible.
Just that top right spot. Any ideas??

Maybe some holes in the top of the rack as well to let heat out there because heat will rise up to the top of the rack then will be trapped there.

ok, i've added more holes. But like I said, doesn't matter what tub I put up there, it still builds up water...:shrugs::shrugs: we'll see what happens. Thanks for all the advise.

Take out the water dish. Seriously. No really, take it out.

Okay, not really. The size of your holes could be part of the problem Are you drilling them or burning them with a wood burning tool? If you're drilling them, use a 1/8" drill bit. If you're burning them, the wood burning tip should be 1/8". You could have 200 "micro" holes that wouldn't give as much ventilation as my 60 1/8" holes. :shrugs:

Sorry, but other than ventilation, I can't really think of any logical reason why that one corner would get a higher humidity in it compared to the others. What kind of wood is your rack made of? Is it plain plywood, particle board, plywood, melamine coated, sealed? If it's not melamine coated or sealed, you probably have moisture now lodged int he wood that could be leaching back into the container in that area . . . OR are you using lids which would make the type of wood a moot issue.

What's the temperature in that cage and the rest?

Just fishin' for ideas.

I'm burning the holes and they are just abit bigger than 1/8"

Rack is made of melamine coated. I am using 16qt tubs w/lids, just to prevent my little ones from becoming a kitty snack.

Thermostat is reading 82 degrees. It is the same throughout all the tubs on the "hot side." and then ranges anywhere from 75-78 on the opposite end, according to temp gun.

I'm going to give it the night and tomorrow and see if anything changes. Right now I'm using it as the spot where the ones that are going to shed, well they got to stay there for about a week. Once again, thanks for the ideas!!!!
