Smells Like a Rat
My friend found this snake in her backyard in western Wisconsin. She says she lives on the forest's edge. She describes the snake as being at least 3 feet long. She says the colors are accurate in the picture.

It's got saddles like a corn... but the color is so brown. And the head doesn't look quite like a corn, but maybe that's just me.

Anybody know?

Looks like your friend's got a good eye, the coloration looks pretty close to the ground cover in the pic.

Found one of those as a hatchling here in Ohio, they look almost exactly like a juvey classic corn(except of course the head shape, which is more like a king and rounded) the coloration and patterning are identical, lots of reds, blacks, oranges and browns, but they go brown like that as they age...better camo. !

Beautiful Eastern milksnake.

Don't forget the single anal plate and lack of even slightly keel;ed scales. Both of which are glaringly obvious from at least a couple of inches away.....lol. ;)

No doubt and good point, although I don't plan on inspecting any glaringly obvious anal plates from a couple of inches away anytime soon...I haven't done that kind of thing since college....and you know " what happens in college stays in college" :laugh01:
