I was recently up north on a film shoot in Auburn and Cool, California. On a day off, my partner and I went hiking... and panning for gold. LOL! While we weren't all that successful at the gold hunt, we did manage to find a few critters. And even better, the token snake we found was quite the ham for the camera. Hehe.

I believe she may be a wandering garter?.... I could be quite wrong though. What do you think?

Hehehe... I think I actually have about 5 more shots of her I could post... but maybe I'll let the lizards have their 15 minutes.

She was pretty hefty too! Looked near 3 feet and had some girth to her.

Nice shots! A tongue shot of a wild snake. Pretty good!

It was actually pretty easy with this particular snake. We came upon her accidently while... panning for gold. hehehe. She took off immediately into the water. About 15 minutes later though, I went to look for her, and sure enough, she was back on the bank just a short walk from where we first saw her. She stayed put for a bit while I took pics, but then had enough and was off into the water again. Again, 15 minutes later, she was back on shore... and this time seemed to just give up and accept my presence.. and one point actually slithering in my direction, stopping only 2 feet away from me. So, I was able to fill far too much of my memory card with her. LOL!
