Just a few questions...

Suzy

Shazoooooo!
Hi, everybody! I just had a few questions for you all.
I'm planning on buying a corn sometime this week (I finally got my stimulus check. YAY! :D), and I went out to get supplies tonight. I got the thermometer that I needed, and I got a tub. (which i'm planning on using for the corn.) My main question is about the tub. It's the Sterilite model number 1924 - it's 15 quarts, and it's 13x11x6 in dimensions. Would that work out for a baby/juvenile corn?
Also, i'm planning on putting in ventilation holes. How many should I put in? And what size drill bit would be good to drill the holes?
I'm planning on using a UTH for that. Would I have to use the backing on the UTH, or can I just set it up underneath but not attached to the tub? And speaking of, i'm planning on setting it up in my bedroom on a coffee table - the table is wood, but it has a glass top. Is that okay, or should I find another surface to put it on? (I don't know if the glass would hold in too much heat and cause it to overheat or not.)
So all in all for the tub, i'll have paper towel for substrate to start with (to check for mites and make sure the snake is going to the bathroom.), i'm planning on using sour cream tubs for hides (with holes cut in the tops. I'm going to sand them down so there aren't any rough edges.) I'll have my thermometer/hygrometer attached to the hot side, and i'll have a glass water dish for the snake. I'm also going to have a dimmer/thermostat attached to the UTH so it doesn't get too hot. My other question is, do I need to put in anything else to help the snake shed, or should that all be okay?
Thank you guys for your help! I'm so excited! :crazy02: Hopefully by this weekend, i'll have a little snake that i've been looking forward to for so long! :D

The only thing I can think of going wrong with your set up is the glass table sucking heat from the heat pad and dispersing it thus less heat for snake. Also becareful with heat and plastic you may want to get a thermostat or rheostat to adjust the heat from the mat. GL!

Okay, that was what I was thinking about the glass. What about wood or something like that? Would that be okay, or is there a risk for burning the wood? I know it's only 85 degrees or so, but after a long time, I don't know.
And I did plan on getting a thermostat for the UTH. Thanks. :)

I keep mine in a big wooden cabinet hasn't ruined the wood so far just dries it out sometimes if the humidity in the house gets low.
